UWindsor Made: supporting alumni-owned businesses

The Alumni Association is dedicated to supporting its alumni. We’re embarking on an exciting new project and invite you to participate.

We know businesses are struggling to be profitable during these uncertain times. We want to help. The Association is compiling a database of small businesses (100 or fewer employees) owned by our alumni. We’ll promote the list and encourage people to support these businesses through our social media channels and alumni e-News. While we can’t highlight every business, we may choose to spotlight some businesses from a variety of sectors.

There is no cost to join. All registered alumni businesses will receive a custom Windsor Proud window decal to display at their place of business.

Events celebrate Black History

The UWindsor Alumni Association has planned two events to celebrate Black History Month.

Celebrating Alumni Connections is a panel discussion, hosted by Dwania Peele BSc '11, BA '11, and features Tamara Lopez, BA '04, Brian Danso, BComm '12 and Osi Nriagu BComm '05, BEd '07. The discussion will be held virtually on February 25 from 3-4 p.m.

Celebrating Excellence is a conversation between Bryant McBride, NHL executive and producer of the movie Willie and Jermain Franklin BA '90, anchor at TSN's SportsCentre. They will discuss the documentary on hockey legend Willie O’Ree. Attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy a complimentary viewing of the movie.

UWindsor Together: Supporting our elite athletes

With formal competition cancelled and public health measures restricting on-site training, Lancer coaches and athletes have found creative ways to stay game-ready while keeping themselves and the community safe.

Like all good teammates, they've supported each other as they wait for "the longest off-season ever" to finally end. Watch the video.

Be an angel to someone in need

The UWindsor Alumni Association's Alumni Cares Volunteer Program has partnered with the City of Windsor's Snow Angels initiative where volunteers shovel the driveway and sidewalk for a community member that needs assistance.

The program has been running for 20 years. Recently, Snow Angels' volunteer numbers have dropped. People like you are needed more than ever. This program has the potential to help over 400 Windsor residents.
