Natural Resources Committee To Host Congressional Field Hearing on Guam
The House Committee on Natural Resources will be holding an official Congressional Field Hearing on Guam, which will be scheduled for Thursday, August 24, 2023, and will begin at 10:00 am. The hearing will be held at the Micronesian Ballroom, Hilton Guam Resort & Spa. The topic will revolve around the INDOPACOM theater and the state of our nation's defense within the waters surrounding Guam and the FAS nations. Guam Congressman James Moylan is a member of the committee and will be participating.

Armed Forces Committee Members are encouraged to mark their calendars for its General Membership Meeting scheduled for Friday, September 8, 2023, at 8:00 am at the Gallery Ballroom, Hilton Guam Resort & Spa.
This meeting will feature military branch commanders who will provide updates and highlight their current & upcoming projects and happenings. This event is exclusive to AFC members only. This event is closed to the media and will not be recorded.

What an informative meeting we had with our Armed Forces Committee (AFC) Members and our guest speaker, Colonel Alejandro Buniag, on Tuesday, August 15, 2023. Members made the time to have "A Conversation with Colonel Buniag" during this roundtable event.

Peruvian Ship B.A.P. Unión Makes Historic
First Port Visit to Guam
Members of the Armed Forces Committee were given the opportunity to attend the Peruvian Navy Training Tall Ship B.A.P. UNIÓN (BEV-161) during the port visit to U.S. Naval Base Guam on Wednesday, August 16, 2023. The general public was also invited to tour the Peruvian Navy Training Tall Ship this past week, Wednesday, August 16 through Friday, August 18, 2023.
The visit is part of B.A.P. UNIÓN's around-the-world training development "Circumnavigation 2023-2024." During their visit, they tour the island, learned about Guam's culture, volunteer in local community, and learned about the means deployed at the Guam Naval Base by the U.S. Navy.

Hawaii Chamber Foundation Business
Relief Fund
The Chamber of Commerce’s Foundation established a Business Relief Fund through the Hawaii Chamber of Commerce Foundation, a 501(c)3 Organization and the Chamber of Commerce Hawaii to help businesses impacted by the wildfires. All proceeds will benefit Hawaii businesses seeking assistance to recover and rebuild from the wildfires. Donations can be made online or by check made payable to “Hawaii Chamber of Commerce Foundation Relief Account” and mailed to 733 Bishop Street, Suite 1200, Honolulu, HI 96813.

Workshops On Grant Writing
Scheduled For This Month
The Office of Congressman James Moylan is excited to announce that the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration will be conducting two workshops in Guam related to Grant Writing. The training seminars are scheduled for Thursday, August 24, 2023 and Friday, August 25, 2023, and will be held at the Guam Museum from 9:00 am - 3:30 pm on both days and these workshops are free. The workshops will provide training on how to identify funding opportunities and apply for a grant.
