Purfect Logos
Owner: Tanner Chaffin

The name of Purfect Logos is a bit of an anomaly. The company doesn't design logos, nor do they have a cat fixation.

But owner Tanner Chaffin said they have a strong business in the manufacturing industry, and specifically for imprinting logos on t-shirts, hoodies, tank tops, or company apparel for people in the field.

The name Purfect Logos was created by the former owners, as Purrfect Logos and Chaffin bought the company in 2014. He said changing the domain name to www.perfectlogos.com was cost prohibitive, so they have worked with the name, and customers are happy.

They have embroidery machines for corporate apparel, hats, jackets, including embroidery on Carhartt clothing.

They have a full sign department with latex printers, banners, and vehicle wraps - they can do big signs. But Chaffin said, "We don’t do anything lighted or electrical."

But they can imprint logos on interior office signs and warehouse signs.

He said that vehicle wraps are a great way to get the word out about your company because it is a mobile advertisement.

The bulk of their work is in the construction and contractor markets.

Untamed Construction
Owner: Nick Scheel

Nick Scheel wants to understand who you are as a person before starting on your residential remodel.

Do you fall into one of these categories?
  • Audio/videophile
  • Aficionado
  • Sportsman
  • Gamer
  • Scholar
  • Outdoorsman
  • Sports fan/athlete
  • Craftsman/hobbyist
  • Eccentric zillionaire

You may be surprised where you fit in. You can use these personas on the website to help determine what is most important to your project.

But Scheel said, if you are only focused on the lowest cost project, he probably isn't the right construction firm for you.

He said that he is working to create an experience for customers and added, "Our job is to establish the functional, aesthetic, and investment goals (of customers) and to then guide them to make informed decisions on the most appropriate methods, products, and finishes that align with those goals."

He said that Untamed Construction delivers an exceptional product.

Scheel grew up in the construction industry and has several family members who have been entrepreneurs.

He said about entrepreneurs, "Someone who jumps off a cliff and builds the plane on the way down..?" He added, "I've learned to avoid cliffs that lack sufficient height and to have an aerospace engineer on speed dial."

Dutch Bros. Coffee
Owner: Kevin Parker

Kevin Parker takes his coffee black and he drinks a lot of it, which may be helpful considering his ownership of 10 Dutch Bros. locations with 230 employees!

But Parker is not just a purveyor of coffee, his focus as a business owner is on people development and he spends most of his time helping to elevate his staff to be the best they can be.

That, and he said, "We have the perfect bean," and encourages anyone to try the roasted coffee and coffee drinks.

"As an employer, we offer extensive leadership development; not just training an employee, but training a person," he said. He added that helping employees to pursue their aspirations and even open their own Dutch Bros. franchise is important to him.

During the pandemic, Parker said it has been more important than ever to treat his employees like kings and queens, which in turn allows them to treat customers as princes and princesses.

They are doing something right as they have about 80% of their customers stopping by daily to multiple times per week. The staff gets to know the customers and ensures their satisfaction.

Parker also said that they invest highly in giving back to the community and many of their fundraisers are highly successful.

Snacktivist Foods
Owner: Joni Kindwell-Moore

In 2015, on a whim, Registered Nurse, Joni Kindwell-Moore when to a weekend StartUp Spokane event at Gonzaga and came away with a good idea for a business.

Her goal was to make better, healthier food products. With that Snacktivist Foods was born.

But, it wasn't without its challenges. She found that creating a line of food products, especially ready-made or finished products, would be harder than she thought.

She was able to find a co-manufacturer who could package baking mixes instead of finished ready-to-eat foods.

She now offers breakfasts, desserts, bread, and pantry staples in a dry packaged format. She has had success in getting her products into certain grocery and specialty stores locally.

Although, she said with the pandemic, there has been a slow-down on growth as many grocers are "on hold" with adding new products.

Many of the products are gluten-free, low on the glycemic index, and use ancient grains, and are high in protein.

Her best customer persona is "Millennial Meg" who, "Is an educated mom who works and cares about her health; and wants the best nutrition for her kids."
