Hello, library friends -

Almost to the longest days of the year, library friends -- are you out there enjoying the sun? I hope so! We deserve some of this beautiful weather after the long winter we made it through.

Read on for a quick summary of the events still coming up this month at the library. Stop by and check out what we're up to, and grab some books, movies, board games, and puzzles for your downtime.

June Lectures and Author Visits

  • John Swift, author of the latest book in the "Sheriff Gogebic" series, Catch & Release, TOMORROW, June 18 at 1pm
  • Peter Annin, author of the critically-acclaimed Great Lakes Water Wars, visits on Monday, June 24 at 6:30 p.m. to discuss his book and the many water issues facing our region
  • Terry Daulton, founding member of Wisconsin's Green Fire, will share their organization's mission and work in a program on Friday, June 28 at 7:00 p.m.
Kids' Programs: "A Universe of Stories"

Kids of all ages are welcome to join us for our Summer Reading Program and several special events this summer. Coming up this month:
  • Laugh with us at a comedy and juggling show with "In Capable Hands" this Thursday, June 20 at 2:30 p.m.
  • Join the Discovery Center for a traveling naturalist program about Bats on June 27

Grown-Up Story Hour

Do you enjoy podcasts and audio books? Want to relax with your friends and neighbors and maybe enjoy a beverage or two? Grown-Up Story Hour might be for you! Join us at the Liberty Way Tap House this Wednesday, June 19th at 6pm to listen to some short stories and essays read to you by your librarian and other community members.
Community Square Dance

Join us for a FREE community square dance this Saturday, June 22 at 2-4 p.m. Come as you are, no experience AND no partner required -- all are welcome! Eric Tangman, a professional square dance caller, will introduce you to the fun world of square dancing. Light refreshments will be served.
Other activities @ your library

  • Tech Tuesday: Drop in for one-on-one technology help with library director Teresa Schmidt on Tuesday, June 25 at 2-4 p.m.
  • Coffee & Coloring is a relaxing afternoon of coloring and paper crafts. We provide the coloring supplies, or bring your own paper projects to work on. Friday, June 28 at 2-4pm.
  • Artist of the Month, Julie Klug: These beautiful photos of northwoods wildlife and scenery are still on display through June. It's not too late to stop by to take a look: One lucky visitor will win a matted print of their favorite!
