Federal UNDRIP legislation
  
The Federal Government has introduced legislation to bring laws of Canada into alignment with the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP). Bill C-15, introduced on December 3, affirms UNDRIP as an international human rights instrument "with application in Canadian Law", and specifies that the Government of Canada must, in consultation and cooperation with Indigenous Peoples, take all measures necessary to ensure that the laws of Canada are consistent with the Declaration.  Read more 
Guidance for open meetings & electronic meetings
  
The Ministry of Municipal Affairs has developed a guidance document for local government meetings and public hearings in light of the current PHO Orders and Ministerial Order 192. The public is now restricted from attending all local government meetings and public hearings in person.
Throne Speech highlights COVID response, recovery
  
On December 7th, the Lieutenant Governor Janet Austin delivered the Speech from the Throne to open the next session of the Legislature. The speech outlined steps taken by the provincial government to address the impacts of Covid-19 on British Columbians as well as commitments to support a recovery. Read more
