Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept 15-Oct 15)
As part of our celebration of Hispanic Heritage in our community, the library invites you to a conversation with Walter Francisco Mena, Lead Organizer at the Merrimack Valley Project, called “Latino Immigration: A Multicultural Encounter” on Tuesday, October 4 at 6:30pm.

This conversation will center on the challenge of multicultural encounters and how welcoming diversity encourages community growth and solidarity.

We are also participating in a free, fun family event at the Methuen Memorial Music Hall Saturday, October 15 at 10am.

A bilingual presentation of Prokofiev’s classic “Peter and the Wolf” where instruments help tell the story with lively musical themes for each character.

Also, look for weekly trivia each Monday during Hispanic Heritage Month on the Nevins Library website and all of our social media outlets. You can win a new Kindle Fire 7 just by playing these trivia games! For each answer you get correct, you will be entered into our raffle to win. The raffle will occur October 17. Good luck!

What's Happening in Children's?
Watch out, a Star Wars Invasion is Coming!
We’re settled into our school-year routine now, enjoying our variety of storytimes, book groups, and craft clubs for children of all ages, but we also have some special programs to offer this month.

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15-Oct. 15), we’ll have an “Hispanic Heritage Month Storytime” for ages 3-6, featuring our wonderful Gladys Medina as guest reader; and of course there’s the bilingual “Peter & the Wolf” production at the Methuen Memorial Music Hall that’s mentioned above.

Later in the month we’ll have an exciting drop-in event for all ages: “Star Wars Invasion” – come visit with Star Wars characters from the 501st Garrison and Alderaan Base! No registration is required, just come by to enjoy stories, crafts, and a scavenger hunt (and dress up as a favorite Star Wars character, if you’d like).

We will also host another free Covid vaccine clinic on October 22 (the same day as the Star Wars Invasion). Walk-ins are welcome, or you can pre-register for an appointment – just go to the library’s website for more details and the pre-registration link.

Keep an eye on our calendar and Facebook page to learn the latest about upcoming programs and special events – there’s always something interesting going on!

Happy October, and Happy Reading
