July 3 Fireworks Extravaganza @ Arroyo Vista Community Park

One of Moorpark's most treasured celebrations returns this year as all Moorpark residents and businesses take time to celebrate our nation's Independence Day...a day early! The City's annual July 3 Fireworks Extravaganza will feature live music, games, and other attractions inside Arroyo Vista Community Park (4550 Tierra Rejada Road). Admission is $5 per person, and tickets must be purchased in advance at www.moorparkca.gov/fireworks.

For folks who want to enjoy the fireworks from areas outside of Arroyo Vista Community Park, the fireworks show will begin promptly at 9:00 PM on Saturday, July 3.

Share Your Voice at July 10 General Plan Update Community Workshop

The General Plan Advisory Committee (GPAC) will meet in person at the Arroyo Vista Recreation Center on Saturday, July 10 at 9:00 a.m. to prepare and present the draft Land Use Concepts for the City’s 2050 General Plan. Attendees will get to review opportunity sites within the City and help determine what building types and uses are appropriate for future development. The GPAC will prepare several plans that provide different “options” for our City as we look ahead to 2050. These plans will be presented and discussed and refined with the public, Planning Commission, and City Council during the year until a preferred land use plan is identified that will be the basis for our new 2050 General Plan.

Background

On May 27, the City of Moorpark hosted General Plan Community Workshop #2: Land Use Concepts as part of the City’s General Plan Update. During the workshop, the City launched an interactive mapping activity intended to gather community input into the development of the City’s updated Land Use Plan. The mapping activity remained open online until June 3, to allow those who were not able to attend the virtual workshop an opportunity to provide comments and to allow those who attended the virtual workshop an opportunity to add additional comments. A total of 197 comments were submitted by participants via the mapping activity, which was available in English, Spanish, and several other languages. Input collected through the activity will be used by the City and the General Plan Advisory Committee (GPAC) to inform the development of land use alternatives and will also be shared with the Planning Commission and City Council.

A summary of the feedback provided at the meeting is below, as well as an Appendix that includes all comments submitted during the Workshop:
