From the College of Pharmacy:
Dr. Amanda Mercadante, Dr. Law’s Fellow, and Dr. Anandi Law recently published a paper in the journal Research in Social and Administrative Pharmacy. Their aims were to identify the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on influenza vaccination, patient perceptions and behaviors, and assess intention to vaccinate using the Health Belief Model. In their study, they identified age and household income as barriers to vaccination acceptance. Additionally, the intention to vaccinate was dependent on individual perceptions on risks and benefits, rather than the population as a whole. The findings of this study are timely and paramount to the efforts of the current vaccination campaign and has implications for public health communications.
