Snapshot Day is Back on April 7 2014

The Nevins Memorial Library will be participating again this year in the statewide program called Snapmass 2014.  This program encourages libraries of all types to set aside one day during the week of April 7-12 to take a "snapshot" of the activities and programs going on in the library that day.  This might include taking a picture of some children at Storytime or of someone using a computer in the library.  There are also some brief survey cards for folks to use to let us know what they are doing and how they use their library.  Pictures are posted to Flickr and are added to the photo groups from around the Commonwealth.  This is a really fun activity and shows very clearly the many different ways our patrons use the library, whether to access DVDs and books or to attend meetings and programs. Methuen community members are making this library a very busy place!  Come on down on April 7 and join the Fun!!  And bring your phone to snap some pictures of your own here at the library and post them to Facebook and Instagram.  Include the #snapmass2014 so they'll be included in the group!  For more information contact Kirsten in the Reference Department at 978-686-4080 ext 14.

Our own Pat Graham will lead two fun wonderful programs in April.

Join us Thursday, April 17th at 6:30pm as she shows us how to make a beautiful centerpiece for your Easter table.  You will need to bring  hand clippers, a bowl no larger than 5" across, and any fun decorative items you'd like to add to your arrangement.  The suggested donation for this program is $15 per person.

On Thursday, April 24th at 6:30pm, it's pasta making time again!  Pat will demonstrate how to craft perfect pasta dough and show you how to make ravioli, tortellini, and various flavored pastas.  You'll need an apron, a container for transporting your pasta, and a rolling pin.  If you own a pasta maker, please feel free to bring it in if you wish.  The suggested donation for this program is also $15.

Author Thomas Mickey's Garden Program

Thomas Mickey  America's Romance with the English Garden

April 2nd  at 7pm

Thomas Mickey's book is the story of tastemakers and homemakers, of savvy businessmen and a growing American middle class eager to buy their products.  It is also the story of the beginnings of the modern garden industry, which seduced the masses with its images and fixed the English garden in the mind of the American consumer.  See and nursery catalogs delivered aspirational images to front doorsteps from Maine to California and the English Garden became the look of America.  Registeronline or call the Reference Dept. at 978-686-4080 x13 for more information.
