New Architectural Commission Chair; Two Positions Open
The Village Board is pleased to announce the new Chair of the Architectural Commission (AC), Jeanne Sylvester. Ms. Sylvester was appointed during the January 11 Board meeting, and is an attorney and a historic preservation consultant who has been a member of the AC for five years. As chair, Ms. Sylvester has stated she plans to encourage thoughtful and careful development in Long Grove while keeping with the Village's rural feel and historic charm.

Lake County Sheriff Provides House Watch Service
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office offers house watches for residents while they are away from their homes for extended periods. Residents must provide contact information to the Sheriff’s Office so they can be reached if needed, and random house checks are completed as time permits. To set up a house watch, call the Sheriff’s Communications Center at 847-549-5200 or click this link for more information. Find tips on how to protect your home and prevent burglaries here.
Village Approves Additional Funds for Teasel Eradication
Teasel is a highly invasive plant that is present in many areas around the Village. It can smother or push out native plants that feed and protect wildlife, and that add to the natural beauty of Long Grove. For the fourth time, the Village Board approved a $10,000 grant for the Long Grove Park District to continue its ongoing teasel eradication efforts. They will focus on State and county road rights-of-ways, park district property and other areas where teasel is present. Learn about teasel and how to help control it here.
Complete Permit
Applications Online
As a reminder, the Village requires that a permit be obtained for all furnace and water heater replacements, whether the homeowner or a hired contractor does the installation. Air conditioners and window replacements also require that a permit be pulled. For these specific permits, residents can apply online on the Village’s website.

The process is convenient and takes about 15 minutes to complete. Once a permit is in place, homeowners can obtain a qualified inspection to ensure the completed installation meets manufacturer’s guidelines and building code requirements.

For more information, visit this link on the Village's website, then click the ‘Apply Online Now’ link in the right column on the page.
