Parents and Guardians,
I hope you and your student enjoyed holiday weekend celebrating the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Although we have only been back in school a couple of weeks, I know our students and staff were glad to have the holiday.
I want to say a special congratulations to several groups here at LHS. LHS Cheer finished 3rd place in 5A Division 2 at the State UIL Spirit competition last Friday. Their score was also the 8th highest of all classifications in the state of Texas! This weekend we also had UIL State recognized success in our Band programs as several students were selected as All-State after a rigorous competition. In addition, last week LHS Senior Averi Carlson was named the Gatorade National Player of the Year in Volleyball. These are all great accomplishments and we are thrilled for these students. More information about these groups and students (along with other student recognitions) can be found below.
This year’s LHS Musical production of High School Musical that was originally scheduled for this weekend has been postponed. Information will be coming very soon regarding the new dates and times for the event.
Lastly, I know that many of our students are missing school right now due to sicknesses. I wanted to remind parents and students that teachers are posting schoolwork each day on Google Classroom. If students are feeling well enough, they can continue to work on class assignments while they are out and minimize the makeup work they will need to complete when they return.
Please take a few moments to read below about some of the other great things our students are doing. There is also information regarding important dates and events coming up in the near future. Have a great week!
Sincerely,
Chris Mayfield
