DEI News - December 2020
Congratulations SSW December
2020 Graduates!
In the midst of a challenging and unprecedented time, the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Office commends the graduating students on their success and achievements! Although the social work community cannot come together to congratulate our graduates in person, we can still find ways to keep this year's graduation special. The School of Social Work Winter Commencement ceremony will be a live ceremony which students join through Zoom.

Staff, faculty, students' families and friends will be able to view the ceremony via live streaming on the School of Social Work site. The ceremony will also be recorded and posted on the SSW site for those who need to watch at another time. More information will be shared as the date approaches.

Michigan Union Ticket Office (MUTO) presents John Lewis: Good Trouble. An intimate account of legendary U.S. Representative John Lewis’ life, legacy and more than 60 years of extraordinary activism — from the bold teenager on the front lines of the Civil Rights movement to the legislative powerhouse he was throughout his career. After Lewis petitioned Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to help integrate a segregated school in his hometown of Troy, Alabama, King sent “the boy from Troy” a round trip bus ticket to meet with him. From that meeting onward, Lewis became one of King’s closest allies.
