Outstanding Student Award Applications Due March 26
It is time for our Serra Padres to apply for the Outstanding Student Award. We are so proud of our students who excel at such a high level and are honored with the Outstanding Student Award. Last year, we had nearly 50 students who achieved this distinction.

In order to be eligible for this award, students must have a cumulative 3.5 GPA (unweighted) or 3.7 GPA (weighted), have participated in one or more extracurricular activities and have a good disciplinary record. When students apply, they need to mark each activity that they have participated in this school year. All applications will be shared with Mrs. Lee and Mr. Baldonado for academic and disciplinary clearance. In order to be considered, students must complete this application by 3 p.m. on Friday, March 26.

Parent Teacher Conferences This Friday, March 12

Spring Parent-Teacher Conferences are on Friday afternoon, March 12, from 1:15 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. This time is reserved for virtual Parent-Teacher Conferences. This is an optional event for parents, and although all parents are welcome to attend, we especially want to encourage parents to schedule meetings with teachers if their son has a grade of C- or lower in that class. Parents will need to sign up beforehand. Instructions on how to sign up in PCR were emailed on Saturday, March 6. Conference sign ups will close tomorrow evening so teachers can prepare for their meetings. Additional instructions will be sent to parents on Friday morning, March 12, which will include instructions for finding the teachers’ Zoom links.
COVID Testing Requested Weekly for Students

Please remember to make your testing appointments the week before your son is to return to campus. Students should not miss class to take their Covid tests, therefore we ask that families schedule accordingly. The expectation is that all students be tested before in-person learning and extracurricular activities. Students who are in distance or in person experiencing symptoms or who test positive should share this information with Serra.

There are a number of available testing sites. Feel free to go through your provider or you can test at the various locations in San Mateo County, please see links below:

Reporting of results:
You only need to share positive results with [email protected].
If your son is participating in water polo or football, please complete this form and upload test results for the current week by 10am on Monday, March 15.

Our goal is to support the health and safety of our faculty, staff, students and families.
Pond Water Labs in Mr. Kearns' Class Takes Hands-On Learning to New Level
Students in Jack Kearns' Biology class experienced their first pond water lab last week. During the course of the last year, Kearns has cultivated a pond water ecosystem in a huge tank, similar to a terrarium, with frogs, tadpoles, fish, and aquatic plants.
"During the last two weeks, we used the pond water to explore microscopic organisms using microscopes," Kearns said.
Kearns was happy to report that every student successfully found and documented at least three different organisms, such as water mites, water bears, protists, diatoms and algae.
This hands-on learning lab is one of many opportunities that students at Serra experience in the science department
"I think this a testimony to the school's efforts and commitment to provide valuable learning opportunities," Kearns said.
