Adapted from an onboarding document created by the New England PTTC, the South Southwest PTTC has developed a guide tailored for states, tribes, and communities in Region 6, which includes the 5 states of Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas. This new guide is intended to supplement program-specific training and give an overview of the prevention field to start preventionists on the road to success. The content is not specific to any one funding source or program and can be used by the new prevention professional working on any federal, state, tribal, or locally funded prevention project.

Excel is a practical and accessible tool for prevention professionals who may be analyzing survey data to demonstrate program outcomes, especially for prevention professionals who may not have access to expensive software packages. In this session, we will explore the power of Excel to analyze meaningful prevention program outcomes with pre- and post-test surveys. Participants will be guided through real-life examples of applying a step-by-step process using Excel to examine pre- and post-test results and interpret significant outcomes.
This will be a beginner's guide to using Excel for pre- and post-test analysis.

Understanding Stress and Substance Use Among LGBTQ+ Adolescents |

Addressing the impact of stress on LGBTQ+ youth and substance misuse requires comprehensive strategies that focus on both individual and systemic factors. This includes promoting LGBTQ+-inclusive environments, reducing stigma and discrimination, providing mental health support tailored to their specific needs, and ensuring accessible substance use prevention and treatment services that are sensitive to the LGBTQ+ community. Dr. Jeremy Goldbach, the facilitator for this workshop, is an expert in this area of research. Together with Dr. Goldbach, we will examine the research related to this topic and receive guidance that will help improve prevention practices and prevent use.
