Reminder - Last Chance to Participate in ThoughtExchange is January 13!
This is a friendly reminder that Wednesday, January 13 is the last day for all D65 community members to participate in our ThoughtExchange. All residents are encouraged to submit their thoughts on the priorities that are most impactful for our students and schools as we plan to address our current financial challenges. In addition to adding your own thoughts to the conversation, you can also review and rate the ideas contributed by others. The information gathered will be used to inform decision making and help facilitate a transparent budget planning process.

Interested participants can participate in the virtual conversation in over 60 different languages via their web browser, by downloading the ThoughtExchange mobile app (download from the app store and enter the code 193-281-336) or text the code 193-281-336 to the phone number 728-55 to receive a link to participate.

Kindergarten Registration is Live!
This is a friendly reminder for D65 families, parents, and caregivers with incoming kindergarten students that kindergarten registration is live! Registration is easier than ever before with our newly designed kindergarten registration page, allowing families to view resources, presentations, and frequently requested documents to register their child online. As a reminder, children must be five years-old on or before September 1 to register for kindergarten. Additionally, students are assigned to an attendance-area school based on the address of their residency. Once students are registered, families may apply to one of D65’s selective enrollment programs or magnet schools. For answers to specific questions or for help in the registration process, please feel free to reach out to our Registration team at [email protected].

PTA Equity Project (PEP) Votes to Support One Fund Initiative
The PTA Equity Project (PEP) Committee has announced that all 16 Evanston/Skokie District 65 PTAs voted over the last several weeks to participate in the One Fund Initiative! The One Fund Initiative is an equity measure intended to ensure that all District 65 students have equitable access to PTA resources, regardless of the school they attend. All PTAs will begin fundraising for the PEP Fund, held by the Evanston Community Foundation.

Regarding the creation and unanimous participation in the One Fund Initiative, PEP Co-Chair Elisabeth Lindsay-Ryan shared, “We are thrilled the individual District 65 School PTA memberships voted in favor of supporting the PEP One Fund. We are also grateful that a local family foundation (that chooses to remain anonymous) has offered $10,000 in matching funds to kick-off our first unified fundraising efforts for the One Fund Initiative“ and Co-Chair Suni Kartha added that “We look forward to moving towards greater equity and opportunity for every student in the district.”
