Secure the Bag IG Live with Christopher Gray

On January 22, the Williams-Franklin Foundation hosted a webinar with Christopher Gray, the CEO of Scholly, entitled “Secure the Bag: Locating, Applying, and Winning Scholarships.” Chris, who won $1.3 million to fund his college education, shared many tips on how to find authentic scholarships and submit stellar applications in conversation with WFF Co-Founder Dwight Franklin. Some takeaways are that students can use the Scholly app/website to apply for multiple scholarships at once and filter scholarships they are eligible for. Additionally, students should aim to tell stories through their applications, be as personable as possible, and keep your essays concise and to the point. View a recording of the webinar here.

Tune in to our next Instagram Live webinar “Planting the Seed: Building Generational Wealth and Legacy with Lauren Rosa Miller” on Sunday March 19, 2023 at 5pm EST. Lauren will provide advice and tips to build generational wealth, legacy, and carry the baton rooted in family entrepreneurship. Whether you are the first in your family to start a business or looking to pass on wealth and values, this webinar has something for you!

Care Packages

At the conclusion of the fall semester, WFF shipped care packages to our 20 Scholarship Awardees congratulating them on the completion of a successful semester. Care packages included healthy snacks, a WFF water bottle, and materials to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and the flu. Students have testified to feeling more prepared for final examinations and ending the semester confidently.

Can you Match This?: Corporate Matching

When you make a donation to the Williams-Franklin Foundation, please ask your employer, “Can you match this?” If your employer says “yes,” that is corporate matching. Corporate matching is when an employee makes a financial gift to a non-profit organization and then submits a formal request to the employer to make the same matching gift. It is an easy process and will multiply your support for the students we serve. Please ask your finance or HR department for more details TODAY!

The Williams-Franklin Foundation 2023-2024 scholarship will go live on March 1, 2023!
