Thanksgiving - A Time to Be Grateful & Serve
November - Three Opportunities to Get Engaged
Thanksgiving is an iconic holiday known for turkey dinner, football, eating too much and being grateful for our blessings. To LUM, Thanksgiving is about showing love to our neighbors in need, especially during this difficult time. This year LUM is hosting the 35th annual Community Thanksgiving Feast, opening the LUM Protein Food Pantry, and sponsoring the Turkey Trot 5K Run. Read below and learn how you can participate, donate and volunteer at these meaningful Thanksgiving events and programs.
Community Thanksgiving
This Thanksgiving Day (November 25), start a new family tradition by participating in the LUM Community Thanksgiving Feast, where more than 800 free meals will be served at Central Presbyterian Church in downtown Lafayette. Sign up to bake and cook -- or volunteer at the event on Thanksgiving. Dozens of volunteers are needed to work in the kitchen, serve food, assist our guests and, of course, set up, breakdown and clean up.

You may also make a monetary donation or donate other food items and supplies. For more information about getting engaged and investing in this event, go to LUMserve.org/thanksgiving.

LUM Protein Food Pantry - Open on Black Friday
To make sure that food is available to local families in need this Thanksgiving, the LUM Protein Food Pantry will be open on Black Friday, November 26, from 10 a.m. to noon at St. John's Episcopal Church. Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, has become the start of the holiday shopping frenzy but LUM will focus on providing food assistance.
