Week 2 RESET!
Welcome Matthew Seigford!

Our new Director of Facilities Matt has joined our Team and brings his love for running with him! His tip: Start EARLY! Matt can be found taking long runs before work in the wee hours of the AM. It is the best time to fit in his runs and continue to prioritize his wellness. Welcome to the team Matt!

Sweet Bites for the Season

Planning a Sweet Treat for your friends, a special someone, or your family? Stay on track with these February must have indulgencies!
Chocolate Stuffed Raspberries
An fully customizable and simple treat that you can create with the kiddos! Simply purchase and clean a quart of fresh raspberries and mini- chocolate chips of choice. Mini Chis come in a variety of flavors and options including: white, milk, and dark chocolate, no- sugar added, vegan chocolate, or even new flavors such as butterscotch or peanut butter! Stuff the raspberries with your mini- chips and display on a plate with a sprig of mint or a shake of powdered sugar.

Strawberry Mousse
With three ingredients you can have a QUICK and easy soft mousse for your V-Day! Not to mention it's vegan AND gluten free! Simply place 1 can of coconut-milk (canned, full fat) in the refrigerator 2 days ahead of serving day. The morning before serving, take the cold coconut milk out and whip it into a soft and fluffy mousse with a fork. Blend about 5 Strawberries in a blender (or chop and use a fork to form a pulp) and set aside. The final ingredient is YOUR sweetener of choice. Whip it all together and make sure to serve in your finest bowls to celebrate.
You can use any sweetener you prefer but here are some different options:

  • Honey- Real & pure honey is known to support immunity with the antioxidants i contains. 1 Tablespoon has 64 calories and 17 grams of sugar, including fructose, glucose, maltose and sucrose.
  • Stevia- All natural from the Stevia plant, this sweetener contains 0 calories. You need only use about 1/8 the amount due to it's sweet smack! Beware: most Stevia contains fillers similar to artificial sweeteners so make sure it's 100% and a little goes a LONG way.
  • Coconut Sugar- Another great option for those avoiding sugar! Coconut sugar has a lower glycemic index than sugar. Even calcium, iron, zinc, and potassium are sneaked into your sweetness.
Work Out Of The Day
Sea Turtles
Sea Turtles work our ENTIRE back- body including the core, low- back, upper- back, shoulders, & more. This workout also assists with mobility and adding an extra punch to assist your ab workouts.
Jennifer Niemeyer Shows Us:

  • Start laying on your belly, face down. Your arms are extended overhead, palms resting on the floor, and the legs are extended behind you with the tops of the feet resting on the floor.
  • Simultaneously lift the hands, arms, feet, legs and neck. Gaze forward being gentle on the neck lifting the hands and feet.
  • Take a swimming movement as you sway the arms and feet out to the sides while raised.
  • Return your arms and legs back to center and reach before releasing with control back down to lay flat.

Weekly Devotional
Spirit, Mind and Body
by Larry M. Richardson,
President/CEO, YMCA of York and York County

Luke 2:52

“And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.”

Dr. Luther Gulick helped to found the physical department in 1897 at what is now known as Springfield College. Dr. Gulick created what is now known as the inverted triangle while at the college. We in the YMCA recognize this as the YMCA triangle where the three sides of the triangle represent “spirit, mind and body.”
