MONDAY MEMO
Yiannaki, Gabe, Carter, Quinn, and Kingston visited Franklin family's grave at the Granary Burying Ground while walking the Freedom Trail with Peter.
Hello {First Name}, There was a fun shift of energy this morning as we welcomed the 6-8th graders back to the focus of the classroom and sent the 4-5th graders off full of energy on their trip to Maine! There are just three weeks left of school, and we hope to see you on the soccer field Friday if your schedule allows.

Happy Monday,
Nelia
NOTES
SUNSCREEN
We continue to spend as much time as we can outdoors, and encourage our K-8 students to apply sunscreen at midday, and/or before an outdoor activity. Students can bring their own or use supplies we have at school. If this is important to you, please make that expectation clear with your children. If you do not want us to use the variety of products we have at school, please let your child's teacher know directly. Preschool has a different set of parameters around topical applications, if you have any questions about that, please reach out to McKenna.
LIBRARY & CLASSROOM BOOKS
As we approach the end of the year we would like to collect and re-organize all of Riverside's library books as well as each teacher's classroom library. Please search your homes for any texts that might belong to us and return them.
TEACHER APPRECIATION MEALS
Twice a year, the parents organize an opportunity to give back to the teachers and staff at The Riverside School. These meals are intended to replace any end of the year gifts you might want to give, and to celebrate! We are feeding 20 people from June 5-9, so it takes a village! If you like to cook, feel free to sign up for that, if you would rather spend some time setting up or cleaning up and chatting with everyone at school, that is another option. Thank you so much for helping do this - Riverside staff looks forward to this every year. Sign Up at this link.

6-8th Grades
We enjoyed a fabulous three day adventure to Lexington and Boston last week. We are exceedingly grateful to the parent chaperones who came along on the trip to drive, keep a close eye on small groups as we navigated big places, and help with morning and evening routines at the hotel. We could not take these trips without your logistical help and your donation of gas, thank you so much.

Pictures will be up on the website soon, linked in next week's Monday Memo. Chaperones, please email a few of your favorite pics from the trip to Nelia ASAP, if you didn't already share them on our text thread.
RECESS RELAY AGAINST CANCER
Relay Recess is this Friday, May 26th, from 12:00 - 2:30. We have 4 days left until our relay recess field event! We hope you’re planning to be Superheroes with us. Bring a picnic lunch to the soccer field at 12:00 and the walk-a-thon will start directly after, so have your walking shoes ready and rest up for lap after lap of music, silly themes, dancing, and just plain fun.

All students have fundraising envelopes from The American Cancer Society (ACS) and we’re asking for your support this week. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a positive difference. All donations to ACS are tax deductible. ACS is a 501 (c)3 tax-exempt organization. Their federal tax ID number is 13-1788491. Their mission continues to be, “save lives, celebrate lives, and lead the fight to a world without cancer.” Please make a tax-deductible donation, and participate in our relay to help ACS continue to save lives. Contact Caroline Thompson with any questions.
STUDENT COUNCIL SPRING FLING
Hosted by Student Council, this event this Friday, May 26 is open to all students from 5:30-7:00 for games and a cookout; grades 5-8 for dance from 7:00-9:00. We would be grateful for parents who can:
  • lend a grill
  • donate burger patties,
  • chaperone, especially for the early part of the event
Please email Peter if you can help!
SPRING CONCERT
We are hosting a PK-8th grade Spring Concert and Awards Night on Wednesday, May 31 at 5:30 pm in the Teachers Pavilion, rain or shine. Not all students are performing, as some individuals and groups have had other chances to show off what they've learned at the open mic night, assembly, or the talent show. Performers should wear concert dress (no jeans, shorts, or sneakers is suggested).
  • 5-6th grade performers and all band students should arrive at 5:00 and go to the yurt.
  • PK-4th grade performers should arrive by 5:15 and go to the assembly hall in the barn.
  • PK-2nd grade students will perform first and sit with their parents afterwards.
If your child is part of a group scheduled to perform, but cannot attend, please email Marie ASAP. We do hope all those who have something to show off at this event will make it a priority.
PK-8 GRADUATION
Our 42nd graduation ceremony will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, June 10. This is an event to honor the hard work and achievements of all our Preschool-8th grade students, as well as the culture of our kind and generous community that makes their success possible. The ceremony, which includes students processing through the cedars, choral performances from the porch of the house, a guest speaker, 8th grade speakers, awards for students of all ages, and a presentation of diplomas to the Class of 2023 is meaningful to all of us. That day is counted as school day and we hope that every student will attend with some members of their family.

The ceremony will be surrounded by student artwork on display and followed by a potluck lunch. We ask all families to bring a salad or main course dish to share. Please remember a serving utensil and mark all your personal items with your name. Please also plan to list the ingredients, we will have markers and cards available if necessary. Riverside will be providing drinks and a cake. Thank you to the 7th grade parents who will be setting up the potluck, so you can simply hand your dish to one of them in the barn when you arrive for the ceremony.
