Join Rockwell’s Equity Team
Rockwell is looking for parents and other Rockwell family members to join our school Equity team! Team members would partner with us to learn more about topics related to race and equity in education and would work alongside members of the staff to promote equity here at our school. We are looking for team members with a variety of perspectives and backgrounds, and you do not need to be an expert in equity to join – we’re all learning and growing together! Please click here for information about this opportunity. if you are interested in meeting to discuss this possibility, please contact Michael Clark, Rockwell Principal, miclark@lwsd.org.
Rockwell Holiday Gift Card Drive
Rockwell Elementary is hosting our 2nd annual Gift Card Drive! From Today – December 11, we will be collecting Target and VISA gift cards for Rockwell families in need. All of money raised will be used to support families in our Rockwell community. Gift cards will be redistributed to support Rockwell families and any extra funds will go towards our Rockwell Student Support Fund.

To Donate: Our fundraiser will be running from November 30 – December 11. We are accepting Target or VISA gift cards up to $25 each. Gift cards may be dropped off at Rockwell November 30 – December 11, from 8 AM – 3 PM. You may also bring a gift card to donate to the Beagle Fetch day on December 11.

To Receive: We recognize that this has been an exceptionally difficult year for many families in our Rockwell community. We want to help as many families as possible have a wonderful holiday season. If you would like your family to be considered for receiving a gift card, please email our school counselor, Kristin Bauer, kbauer@lwsd.org. All requests will remain confidential.

Heritage Night Information!

Rockwell Families: It's not too late to enjoy the PTA's annual Heritage Night. One benefit of having this as a "virtual" event this year is that you can enjoy Heritage "Night" when it's convenient for you! We have some wonderful cooking tutorials that would be great family activities over the long holiday break coming up :)

For those who aren’t familiar with this important Rockwell tradition, Heritage Night is a special occasion where our PTA and school families celebrate the wonderfully rich and diverse cultures in our community. In “normal” times, the PTA hosts a large event at Redmond high school where we feature different booths from around the world. Parent volunteers organize each booth, and showcase fun and interesting features of their family’s country of origin.

Even though it's not safe to assemble in person this year, we still wanted to keep the Heritage Night tradition alive. In these links you’ll find fun cooking videos, photos that feature Rockwell students in traditional outfits from around the world, interesting artifacts, and dance performances from several students.

The PTA is deeply appreciative to all the parent and student volunteers who dedicated their time to help keep this important school tradition going, even in these disconnected times. And a very special thank you to Mansi Majeed, the Chair for Heritage Night. Enjoy!!

*PTA Reflections Program entries are judged on three criteria (in order of importance): Interpretation of the Theme, Creativity, and Technique. Interpretation of the Theme is the most heavily weighted criterion. This is what makes the program unique; if two entries are tied, the entry with the higher score for interpretation receives more recognition. Entries are divided by category then again by grade division (Primary and Intermediate entries are judged separately). Judging is blind and impartial. Each entry is evaluated by two category judges (volunteers from the community who are not affiliated with Norman Rockwell Elementary, i.e. no teachers, staff or parents of participating students allowed) and scored using a rubric provided by the National PTA Reflections Program.

New Time!! -  Beagle Fetch Day – December 11th
At Rockwell we continue to seek ways for reducing human contact for the safety of all during this pandemic. Beagle Fetch days will continue, though we are making some changes to the process this month considering this goal. We also strive to make the Fetch times as convenient as we can for families. With all of this in mind, the process for the December 11th Fetch Day will be as follows:
  • The NEW Beagle Fetch time will be 11 am to 3 pm. Families may come any point during this time block.
  • Only one family member, or as few as possible should come to school.
  • Materials will be laid out by grade level in the following locations:
  • Undercover area by basketball courts            4th and 1st grades
  • Undercover at front of school                           5th and 2nd grade
  • Kindergarten covered area                                 K and 3rd grades
  • Materials will be bagged and labeled with each student’s name.
  • This process will be self-serve with the student bags on the tables in alphabetical order for each grade and by class. There will be a Rockwell staff member on hand to assist, if needed.
  • Please wear a mask, and upon arrival follow signs to the appropriate grade level. Wait in the line keeping a physical distance of 6 feet from others.
  • At your turn, step up to the table for the student’s class, find your student bag as quickly as possible and step away from the table, following the signs for exiting.
  • We will have leftover materials out on tables by the front door the Monday following Fetch Day if you are unable to pick them up on Friday.
Our goal is to provide needed materials to each of our students as efficiently and as safely as possible. We appreciate your flexibility and support to make this happen.
