City Hall Reopening to the Public in August
The City continues to carefully reopen public facilities in an effort to maintain a high level of safety for staff and residents. With California lifting the Blueprint for a Safer Economy's tiered system, City facilities will transition into a phased opening with an expected City Hall reopening in August 2021. Over the coming months, staff will continue developing and organizing the City's 'Return to In-Person Plan' (RIPP), specifically for employees who worked remotely throughout the pandemic. While the plan is in development, members of the public can still file permits, applications, plans, and other documents online as well as schedule appointments and meet with staff virtually.

Heatwave May Cause Rotating Power Outages
While we are currently experiencing a heatwave, we ask residents to conserve energy to help avoid the possibility of rotating power outages. Those steps include setting thermostats to 78 degrees or higher (if health permits), avoiding the use of major appliances, and turning off unnecessary lights.
If the California Independent System Operator issues another Flex Alert, a call for voluntary conservation between 4PM-9PM, here's how to prepare before it takes effect:
- Pre-cool home by lowering the thermostat
- Use major appliances, like your dishwasher and clothes washer and dryer
- Close window coverings to keep home cool
- Charge electronic devices and electric vehicles

Climate Action and Adaptation Plan Community Workshop
The City is developing a Climate Action and Adaptation Plan (CAAP) that will help us to measure, plan, and reduce our greenhouse gas emissions and climate impacts. We need your input to develop the CAAP as we consider aspects of our community that might be vulnerable to climate change. Join us on June 28, at 3PM for a virtual community workshop to share your thoughts. The first hour will be dedicated to receiving feedback from business owners while the second hour will be dedicated time for residents.

Grand Reopening Celebration
Yesterday, the Los Altos Chamber of Commerce hosted a Grand Reopening Celebration with County Supervisor Joe Simitian, Vice Mayor Anita Enander, and other local leadership to officially re-open our shopping districts to the community.
|
|
We encourage residents to continue 'going local' by supporting Los Altos restaurants, retailers, and other small businesses. While a mask is no longer required for vaccinated individuals in certain settings, some businesses may ask customers to wear a face covering. So, when shopping and dining, always keep a mask in your pocket!
