Dear LNC Families,

You may be aware that there is a TikTok video circulating having to do with school violence. As disturbing as that is, we want to assure you that we have no evidence to suggest any type of violence occurring on either of our campuses, today or in the future. In general, this TikTok threat is deemed non-credible and believed to have originated as a way for students to skip or be excused from school. That said, we have stepped up our security presence on both campuses with Officer Bo and our school administrators present and visible. As typical, Huntersville P.D. is at the ready should their presence be needed.

Please continue to foster open and ongoing dialog with your students so that you are aware of their daily interactions, how they are coping, etc. and reinforce “See Something, Say Something” by encouraging them to reach out to their counselor or our mental health professional, Dr. Graham, if they need support or guidance. Also, know who your students’ counselors are and reach out to those individuals if you have concerns regarding your students or their peers.

LNC has strong safety protocols in place and has taken measures to keep our campuses safe. These include regular emergency drills, upgraded cameras and a strong relationship with the Huntersville Police Department, including its K-9 unit and regular collaboration on our school safety plan. We have also upgraded/reinforced our entry points at the high school and middle school in recent years. As our elementary building was recently constructed, these safety protections were already in the design plans. We appreciate your trust and support of our procedures intended to keep all LNC students and staff safe.

Together we learn, lead and serve.
