AlNautic's Flight Simulators Added to both Middle Schools

AINautic's Flight Simulator is not the average classroom resource but an engineering tool that can accurately predict the flying qualities of fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft. It is an incredible experience that provides scholars with the realism, the depth, the almost limitless replay ability – of flight and space. It does so much to recreate the feeling of actual flight at an accuracy never before seen. It immerses scholars in the augmented reality of landing at real-life airfields. The system provides in-depth and detailed insight into a plane's interior and exterior functions and instruments.

The simulators use one of the top software platforms, X-Plane, which predicts the performance and handling of almost any aircraft. It is an excellent tool for scholars to keep up with currency in a simulator that flies like a real plane, for engineers to predict how a new airplane will fly, and for aviation enthusiasts to explore the world of aircraft flight dynamics

JCSD's District Teacher of the Year is Leading the Way

Mrs. Amsavalli Velayuthan, JCSD's 2022-2023 Teacher of the Year, is leading the way. Mrs. 'V,' can be seen during her planning, at Ridgeland Secondary Academy of Excellence (RSAE) helping new educators as well as veteran teachers with helpful tips for success.

Along with other RSAE staff, Mrs. 'V' conducted in house training on topics such as JCSD's Instructional Framework, Kagan Cooperative Learning Strategies, Schoology, AVID strategies, Interventions, and ABE documentation during teacher orientation days to facilitate and enhance professionalism.

Moving right along, effective grade level meetings, for students, with expectations and exposure to the school's goals were conducted. Also, the implementation of instructional best practices and procedures to consistently provide rigorous grade-level standardized instruction centered on students’ specific needs was shared.

Mrs. 'V' did not stop there. She also ensured that AVID site meetings, department meetings, mentor-mentee meetings, ELL accommodation meetings, IEP meetings, and faculty meetings were all efficiently conducted.

Further, the required Diagnostic Assessments, such as iReady Reading Diagnostic Assessment for grades 6-9, has also been successfully completed.

"It has been an incredible journey and I am honored to serve as your Teacher of the Year 2022-23. We are a team, all of us, and the sustained success of any team can never rest on the shoulders of a few individuals, but rather as a collective achievement and improvement. Throughout my 34 years of teaching experience both nationally and internationally, and my 16th year at the Jasper County School District, I realized that Working in Jasper County means maintaining enthusiasm, with a focus on creating a student-centered classroom. Teaching at Jasper County provides, continual learning, promotes student achievement and prepares for global competitiveness. By fostering educational excellence, students are provided a safe and beneficial learning environment aligned to college and career readiness," said Mrs. Velayuthan.

Keep soaring Mrs. 'V' and leading the way!
