Robin Phelan named publisher of The Joplin Globe
Robin Phelan, a long-time newspaper executive and advertising director, has been appointed publisher of The Joplin (Missouri) Globe.

Phelan, 50, also will continue his role as the publisher of Farm Talk, a weekly newspaper focusing on agriculture in the Four-State Area that is based in Parsons, Kansas.

Former Charlotte Observer publisher Rolfe Neill has died
Rolfe Neill, publisher of The Charlotte (North Carolina) Observer from 1975 until his retirement in 1997, died July 14 at age 90 of complications from peritoneal cancer, his daughter Ingrid Ebert of Kernersville said.

The Open Government Litigation Fund is designed to assist members of America's Newspapers that are engaged in lawsuits supporting the First Amendment rights of newspapers and the public's right to know.

The Fund is dedicated to providing support for necessary legal action — primarily the initial costs of drafting, filing and serving a lawsuit — to enforce the public’s right to know through access to government records and meetings.
