Welcome to the Dog Days of Summer!
Where did that saying come from anyway?
Originating from the ancient Greeks and Romans, the phrase "dog days of summer" is rooted in the belief that during this time, the star Sirius, also known as the "Dog Star," rises and sets with the sun. In their mythology, Sirius was associated with heat, drought, and restlessness. Consequently, these days were considered inauspicious, signaling a time to take a break from intense activities.
In modern times, the dog days of summer serve as a reminder to slow down, relax, and enjoy the slower pace of life. It is a time to indulge in simple pleasures like picnics, swimming, or reading a book under a shady tree. While the heat may seem stifling, it also provides an opportunity for self-reflection and personal growth. We can use this period to evaluate our goals, recharge our spirits, and appreciate the beauty of nature.
Season starts soon- this is the perfect month to take inventory of marketing supplies, deep clean and organize your business, and connect with your chamber members before we all get incredibly busy!
Hope to see you at the upcoming August events.
Stay hydrated out there-
