"Tear Drop" Monument

Created by Russian sculptor Zurab Tsereteli as a gift from Russia to the USA, it honors the victims of 9/11-2001 and 1993 World Trade Center bombings.

Installed on 9-11-2006, the “Tear Drop” is 100- feet high with a 40- foot stainless steel teardrop representing sadness and grief over the loss of life.
Across the river from Ground Zero, located at The Memorial at Harbor View Park Bayonne, New Jersey, the “Tear Drop” lines up with the Statue of Liberty as a symbol of hope for a future, free from terrorism.
As the events of 9/11 unfolded, Zurab was struck by the outpouring of grief, and a memorial with an image of a tear formed in his mind.
Zurab visited Ground Zero and found New Jersey’s waterfront an appropriate site for the monument.
