Free Resources: Ask-A-Teacher Help Desks, LMS Resource Guides and Instructional Design Modules
|
|
We launched CSTP's Teacher Tech Project, supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Over the summer, 36 Washington state teacher leaders, made up of NBCTs, classroom teachers, instructional coaches, and Regional Teachers of the Year, created free resources and learning opportunities in preparation for remote learning in the fall.
From the Ask-A-Teacher Help Desks to the Learning Management Systems Resource Guides to the Asynchronous Instructional Design Modules – the Teacher Tech Project seeks to assist teachers with creating classrooms for distance learning with these free, available and just-in-time resources.
The teacher-operated Help Desks and Learning Management Systems Resource Guides address the five most commonly used LMS in Washington State – Canvas, Google Classrooms, Microsoft Teams, Schoology and Seesaw, and discuss topics such as:
- Creating Your Online Classroom
- Grading and Assignments
- Student Engagement
- Integrating Other Apps
- And much more!
The Asynchronous Instructional Design Modules assist teachers in transferring their in-person instructional practices to a virtual format including:
- Classroom Community Building
- Student Engagement
- Social and Emotional Learning
- Differentiation
- Feedback for Virtual Learners
- Equity - A Remote Perspective
- And much more!

Changes to CSTP Clock Hour Transcripts for 2020-2021
|
|
After hearing from teachers, CSTP will try out a new transcript system for 2020-2021 school year and issue clock hour transcripts on a monthly basis. If someone submits their clock hour registration form between the first and end of a month, they will receive an emailed transcript by the 15th day of the following month. For example, someone submitting between September 1-30 will receive their transcript by October 15. This trial will allow us to examine the impact on workload and benefits to the teachers. If successful, we will implement the changes permanently. Otherwise, we will return to our normal clock hour transcript distribution at the end of August 2021.

WEA Developing new Maintenance of Certification (MOC) Jump Start for Fall 2020
|
|
If your National Board Certificate has an expiration date in 2021 or 2022, you are in the eligibility window to renew through the new Maintenance of Certification (MOC) process. Learn more about MOC on the NBPTS website. If you have questions about the process, please contact NBPTS directly at 1-800-22-TEACH.
WEA will be offering a series of MOC Jump Start events in the fall to support members with this new certification process. The primary purposes of the MOC Jump Start, similar to WEA’s past Renewal Jump Starts, will be to help NBCTs understand the assessment requirements and plan for how to meet them.
NBPTS will not be releasing specific MOC assessment details until September, 2020. Once released, WEA’s NBCT team will work swiftly to develop the curriculum and then launch a series of online training options in October, November and December, 2020.
To join WEA’s information list to get more details about these events, please complete this brief form.
