Palm Beach County Homeowners and Renters Who Were Affected by Hurricane Ian may Apply for FEMA Disaster Assistance.
There are three ways to apply:
1) FEMA's website
2) Download the App
3) Call toll-free 800-621-3362
The line is open daily, from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Help is available in many languages. If you use a relay service, such as video relay (VRS), captioned telephone or other services, give FEMA the number for that service.

The Palm Beach County Community Services Department's Division of Senior and Veteran Services has partnered with the Palm Beach County Food Bank to provide free grocery bags full of nonperishable grocery items to all seniors (age 60+) who attend one of the open house events hosted at the senior centers.
Grocery bags are limited to one bag per household, while supplies last; grocery items are nonperishable goods that may vary by location.
The open house events run through the end of December 2022.

Bring the entire family out to enjoy a day of fun with educational activities and find your connection to our natural treasure, Lake Worth Lagoon!
Attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy wildlife presentations, participate in kayak clean-up tours, scientist-guided tours aboard the Hakuna Matata Catamaran and Aqua Adventures.
In addition, there will be exhibitor booths, demonstrations, a kids zone with face painting, lawn games, fast-pitch game, kids casting, gopher tortoise burrow, arts and crafts, and more!

A celebration, a ribbon cutting, meeting with nonprofit agencies, reading to preschool children, advocating for health causes, supporting reentry initiatives, recognizing women as business leaders, joining neighbors' festivities and going to neighborhood meetings, Vice Mayor Weiss spends a lot of time in the community.

READING TO CHILDREN
At the Hispanic Human Resources Council in Palm Springs, students from low income families receive free, quality preschool education. Vice Mayor Weiss toured the facility and read to children in Spanish.

REENTRY SUMMIT
Community leaders, government officials, corrections and reentry specialists met at the Airport Hilton in West Palm Beach on Oct. 5, for three days of education and discussion at the 2022 Reentry Summit. Vice Mayor Weiss introduced the featured speaker, Secretary of the Florida Department of Corrections Ricky D. Dixon.

DINING IN THE DARK
Two Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office SWAT officers with night goggles escorted Vice Mayor Weiss inside the dining room where the Florida Outreach Center for the Blind Inc. hosted its 14th annual Dining in the Dark fundraising event.
The dining event features experiencing taste, smell and texture in total darkness to raise awareness for the challenges blind people face on a daily basis.

PBC HIV CARE COUNCIL
Supporters and leaders gathered at Compass Community Center to recognize their ongoing work in support of individuals and families affected by HIV/AIDS.
Vice Mayor Weiss presented a proclamation declaring Sept. 27, 2022, as National Gay Men's HIV/AIDS Awareness Day.

RIBBON CUTTING
At Cayuga Centers in Boynton Beach, following a ribbon cutting, Vice Mayor Weiss, along with Mayor Robert S. Weinroth and Commissioner Melissa McKinlay, presented CEO Edward Myers Hayes with a proclamation declaring Oct. 10-16, 2022, as Cayuga Centers Week.
Cayuga Centers South Florida, nonprofit organization, has been dedicated to ensuring children have a safe and loving home for the past 170 years.

CELEBRATING WOMEN IN FRANCHISE
Vice Mayor Weiss presented the United Franchise Group with a proclamation declaring Oct. 14, 2022, as Women in Franchising Appreciation Day.
According to the International Franchise Association, women are more likely to become business owners through franchising opportunities. In the past decade, the number of women-owned franchise owners has increased from less than 20% to over 30%.

PARK OPENING
Vice Mayor Weiss and other Palm Beach County officials celebrated the opening of phase I of Canyon District Park, located at 8788 Senator Joe Abruzzo Ave. in Boynton Beach.
The park has three lighted multipurpose fields, a restroom/concession building, a maintenance facility, group picnic shelters, a one-mile paved fitness trail with 13 exercise stations, parking for 251 vehicles and other necessary infrastructure.
