NEWS - December 20, 2021
Adobe released new versions of Premiere Pro, After Effects and Character Animator this week, but before I get into that I need to offer an apology.

We had a glitch with Amazon Web Services last week; they host the videos on my website. Starting last Thursday, we lost our connection with AWS. This took our videos off line from Thursday till Saturday night. That connection is now fixed, but if you had problems playing videos over the last couple of days, my apologies. This should not happen again. (Just so you don't worry, this wasn't a hack, no data was lost. It was simply a broken "master link" that took time to find and fix.)

My lead story this week describes the new features in Adobe's latest release.

Following from that, the big news with Premiere Pro and After Effects are big performance enhancements. Adobe posted a blog that provides more details.

The rapid approach of the holidays means there's not a lot of news happening in our industry. So, let's move on into learning something new.
Last week's webinar, "Exploring the Color Page of DaVinci Resolve," drew one of my largest audiences of the year. It was a fun presentation that showed how to move projects from Final Cut or Premiere into Resolve, color grade them, then move them back. All in one 50-minute program that's fun to watch. This week wraps up our three-part look at using DaVinci Resolve in conjunction with Premier or Final Cut. Join us as we "Explore the Fairlight Audio Page in DaVinci Resolve." This will show how to add, edit and trim audio clips, generate audio effects, apply filters, then create the final audio mix for use in Resolve, Final Cut or Premiere. I've always loved audio and this will be a great way to learn about a powerful new tool: Fairlight. As always, registration to my live events is free.

I have four new tutorials this week. My lead story looked at the new releases from Adobe. This next tutorial illustrates the new text and graphic features in the new release. While not earth-shaking, they will make your editing life easier, without a huge learning curve.

After presenting last week's webinar on Resolve's Color page, I wanted to spend more time looking at how to move projects between Final Cut or Premiere into and out of Resolve. So, this week, I have two tutorials that provide an illustrated, step-by-step process to safely move projects between apps.

Christmas will come and go before we get a chance to chat again next Monday. Holidays are a special time to celebrate with friends and family, as well as time spent reflecting and recharging our creative juices. I wish you a happy, peaceful and joyous holiday.

Until next Monday, edit well.
