NSF Awards Georgia Tech Researchers with
$100K in Civic Innovation Challenge Grants

Two professors at the Georgia Institute of Technology have each been awarded Civic Innovation Challenge Phase 1 grants from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to further their research in bringing solutions to community problems. The $50,000 grants, which in addition to the NSF, are funded by the U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. They and awarded in conjunction with the MetroLab Network, a global consortium that includes 28 cities, 6 counties, and 35 universities — including Georgia Tech, a founding member — focused on civic research and innovation.

Partnership at Eggs & Issues
 
On Jan. 13, Lieutenant Governor Geoff Duncan addressed Georgians from all areas of the state at the Georgia Chamber’s annual Eggs & Issues Breakfast, the official kickoff to the state’s legislative session. In his remarks, he spotlighted the Partnership of Inclusive Innovation’ latest grant for theClubhou.se: Mesh Network—and its important role in supporting Georgia’s economy—to hundreds of attendees, including many of the state’s top-level elected officials and business leaders.
Now Accepting Smart Community Corps
Summer Internship Applications
We are excited to announce our Georgia Smart Community Corps Summer Internship Program is back for a third year.

The Smart Community Corps (SCC) is the first statewide program of its kind for civic-minded students to gain hands on smart city experience. Working as a summer cohort and in community pairs, interns are placed into local municipalities to support smart technology projects that are dedicated to creating livable and equitable communities.
Congratulations to all the innovative and committed local leaders who were rightly recognized by Georgia Trend’s 100 Most Influential Georgians and Atlanta Magazine’s Atlanta 500. We are proud to work with them as our Board of Advisors, key partners, and fellow catalyzers of change.  
The Partnership for Inclusive Innovation is a public-private partnership comprised of the state of Georgia, private entities, and the Georgia Institute of Technology. Launched in 2020 to lead coordinated, statewide efforts to position Georgia as the technology capital of the East Coast, and under the leadership of Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan, board chairman Dr. G.P. Bud Peterson, and Executive Director Debra Lam, the organization guides efforts and pilot programs to help foster access, growth, entrepreneurship and inclusive innovation statewide. The Partnership's ultimate goal is to achieve inclusive innovation throughout Georgia. The organization aspires to define Georgia’s entrepreneurial identity as a national leader in technology research, development, and implementation.
