Worcester, Massachusetts - Worcester Community Action Council, Inc. has appointed Maricelis Gonzalez to its Board of Directors. Gonzalez is the Executive Director of Operations for El Buen Samaritano Food Program, Inc.

"We are thrilled to welcome Maricelis to the Board," said WCAC Executive Director Marybeth Campbell. "Her experience in supporting our greater community and knowledge of the food insecurity issues facing far too many local households will bring an important voice to our efforts to make substantive policy change to better address barriers keeping people in poverty."

Gonzalez said, "When I was asked to be part of the Worcester Community Action Council, the word 'action' stood out to me, knowing that I will be part of a team that will take the appropriate steps in working together with individuals who share a passion to take action to better our city and genuinely care about the community."

As directed by the agency’s bylaws, WCAC’s Board of Directors is a tripartite board comprised equally of representatives of the public sector, private sector and community. Gonazalez will fill the seat left vacant by the departure of long-time board member and past chair Noreen Johnson Smith.
