SANCTUARY SEATING RESERVATIONS

We're opening the Sanctuary to the congregation for upcoming services moving forward! To accommodate everyone's various comfort levels with social distancing, seating in the Sanctuary is currently limited to 50 people, so we encourage congregants to reserve their seating soon! Please use this link to reserve a seat for upcoming services: https://rsvp.church/r/iDQBXJDb.

There will be additional seating available in Fellowship Hall for those congregants without a reservation in the Sanctuary, or for those who would appreciate the flexibility and an added sense of social distancing. We will have a projector screen in place to provide a full visual and sound experience of our livestreamed service, so together you can enjoy worship with other UUCUC members who also make this choice. Here's a sneak peek of what our Fellowship Hall will look like (thanks to Facilities Manager, Tim Voelker, for setting it up so beautifully!)

As we are inviting the congregation to return to in-person services, we want to be sensitive to everyone's comfort level when it comes to social distancing. Starting this Sunday and in the weeks to come we will be inviting each person who attends Sunday services to select their comfort level color lanyard to wear throughout the morning. Read More...

JOYS AND SORROWS sent to joysandsorrows@uucuc.org for last Sunday, February 27, 2022.

From Samuel Beshers: Sorrow for the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and Joy for the defiance and defense of their freedom by so many Ukrainians.

From Jan & Chuck Cooper: We are praying for our daughter, Susan Kroll, an NBC Producer to make it safely out of Ukraine either today or tomorrow. She has been covering the news there for over a month.

From Jerry Carden & Tim Temple: Remembering the life of Ali Newbold and the touching service organized by Rev. Sally yesterday. It was a great chance to meet Ali's family and learn more about everyone's connections to her.

From Becky Densmore: Beyond overjoyed to be in our Sanctuary with so many familiar faces and new ones! It’s a glorious morning indeed! ❤️

From Nancy Dietrich: My thoughts & prayers are going out to those affected by the invasion of Ukraine.

From Kiri Fagen-Ulmschneider: Joyful to be back in the sanctuary and for the three woodpeckers l saw on the walk over this morning.

From Chris Hannauer: Joy at being here for an in person service, and profound gratitude for the hard work of Avalon Ruby and Steve Troyer to make it possible for those in the sanctuary to have the full experience.

From Sandra Hannum: Jim's surgery went well, and we are feeling love and support from friends and family. It is a special joy to have our daughter Christy here for two weeks.

From Kathleen Robbins: While attending Harvard Medical School, Dr Paul Farmer worked in Haiti and founded Partners in Health (Zanmi Lasante) which continues to work around the world in 12 countries where quality health care is most in need. He passed away last week at age 62 in Rwanda.

From Rose St. Clair: Deep sorrow for my fellow LGBTQ2+ community members in light of the news out of Texas and Florida this week, especially for children and youth and those of us who love them.

SOCIAL ACTION OFFERING FOR MARCH 2022
WIN Recovery is a local nonprofit founded to support women and those who identify as women as they return to our community after experiencing incarceration. The number of women incarcerated in IL and nationwide has exploded in the past few decades, growing by 700%. Many of the women are sent to prison as part of sweeps of their drug-dealing boyfriends or husbands, even if they had no knowledge of the activity. Tragically, they often get longer sentences than the drug-dealing boyfriend as they do not have information to trade for a reduced sentence. Understandably, incarceration severely interrupts family lives for those who have children. Read more...
During the month of January, our shared offering was able to raise $2,285 that was donated to The Refugee Center.

The Refugee Center, who UJCUC supported for more than 35 years when they occupied our building. Over the years, the Refuge Center, formerly known as the East Central Illinois Refugee Mutual Assistance Center (ECIRMAC), expanded its services from helping resettle Vietnamese refugees to providing assistance to ALL immigrants; political asylees; and refugees, regardless of country of origin. For more information about The Refugee Center, please visit their website.
