BRAVO A L'ECOLE PEABODY!

In February, French students in Grades 7 and 8 classes participated in Le Grand Concours 2021.

Le Grand Concours is an annual and National French written contest, featuring all states. Every year, our Peabody students perform outstandingly. This year again, all our students were recognized, and Peabody received 1 platinum award, 3 gold medals, 4 silver medals, and 5 bronze medals. A very special applause to Ali Bird who received a PLATINUM medal and plaque, ranking in First place nationally!

Bravo to ALL our French students for this wonderful accomplishment.

Grades 5-8 Arts and Enrichment Courses

What is the Arts and Enrichment Program?

The Middle School Arts & Enrichment program, introduced in 2018, allows students to select specialized music and art courses, as well as choose additional enrichment courses in drama, STEM, humanities, service learning, physical activity, and more! After a year on "hiatus," we are thrilled to offer Arts & Enrichments to our 5th-8th graders this fall. For examples of previous courses, take a look at the 2019-2020 Course Descriptions

How can you Help?

Parent volunteers have helped to fill out our robust and interesting list of course offerings. Are you interested in teaching a short course? Have a personal hobby or skill you'd like to share with our middle schoolers? (Yoga, mountain biking, robotics, running club, photography, etc?) Please email [email protected] to share your idea!

Music Choice Deadline

If you have a student who will be in 5th-8th grade next year, please remember to fill out the Music Arts & Enrichment survey sent out by Ms. Colleen and Mr. Wyatt by Tuesday, June 1st. Feel free to email either Ms. Colleen or Mr. Wyatt if you have any questions or concerns!

Bio-Med Tech Girls

Bio-Med Tech-Girls is back for its 8th year, August 9-13! The program is a collaboration between the UVA Department of Biomedical Engineering and Charlottesville Women in Tech. Last summer, we took Bio-Med Tech-Girls online and were able to have participants from around the country. This year, they are both looking for feedback on the format as well as determining if we can do in-person activities. Wherever it happens, the week of August 9-13 will be filled with guest speakers, hands-on activities, and a design challenge focused on telemedicine. Applications are now open and the deadline to apply is June 25.

Who: 9th-12th grade; identify as female or nonbinary

When: August 9-13 (synchronous activities will happen between 10 AM and 4PM ET)

Where: Looking for input on in-person, online, or hybrid

Cost: FREE
