“WELCOME!"
We are so glad you are here!”

As we enter our church, as we live as members, as we experience important life-cycle events (falling in love, marrying, parenting, baptism, coming out, transitioning, etc.), words of welcome and support, understanding and love are what we all long for. This manifestation of God’s Extravagant Welcome and the justice and social witness that accompany it are the heart of what we hope to show our community and all who walk through the doors of Christ Congregational United Church of Christ.

PEACE BE WITH YOU!

June 30, 2023

Dear Congregation,

Pre-holiday greetings to you as we approach Independence Day 2023!
CCC’s Ministry of Mission and Outreach will be doing a new thing in two
local communities on Tuesday, July 4 th to help our neighbors become
better acquainted with our church. We’ll debut our new tent/booth,
banners, table and table covers, first at the Cutler Bay/Whispering
Pines event, 8800 Ridgeland Drive, where we’ll be from 9 a.m. until
noon. Then our booth will be moved to the Palmetto Bay Independence
Day Celebration at the Village Hall, 9705 East Hibiscus Street, Palmetto
Bay, where we’ll be from 6-9 p.m. prior to the fireworks display.

At each event we’ll share giveaways such as pens, chip clips, and fans
with the church’s contact information, as well as CCC brochures.

There will also be a Christmas in July flier to hand out, inviting people
to come be part of two future opportunities for community interaction.
The first is a Moonlight Drum Circle in our Garden Chapel on
Wednesday, September 27th at 7 p.m. The second is a Community Choir
that will be formed here in the church Sanctuary beginning on
Wednesday, October 17 th at 7 p.m. Weekly rehearsals will follow, with
the goal of offering a free Christmas concert at CCC on Sunday,
December 10th at 2 p.m. to benefit a good cause.

Plan to stop by if you’re at either event to say “hi” and show your
support. We are doing a new thing in our commitment to let the
community know WE ARE HERE! Thanks to Karen Kett, Bianca
Montenegro, and Miriam Grissett for their work to make this happen!

Blessing on your celebrations. See you in church on Sunday!

In Christ’s love,
Pastor Candy

Global Ministries offers a weekly prayer for one of our global mission partners. This week's prayer is with the Cambodia. To read their mission moment, please click the Global Ministries IMAGE. Below is this week's prayer, united we pray.
Gracious God, our father and mother, and the greatest of all rewards that we humans can ever yearn for, we thank you for this fellowship we have with the people of Cambodia in and through you. We remember all things, the indiscriminate violence and the loss of many lives that Cambodia has endured. We pray that you reward us with an unfading memory of such horrendous events in history and resolve to steadily remember what extreme positions on both ends of the political spectrum can do to lives, livelihoods, private and public property, and to nature—the whole of your creation itself. We pray to you, O God, to heal the divisions, the lack of trust among sections of people, and the hatred, that spreads in all countries across this world, including our own. God, we pray that you bless us with an abiding ability to discern who a prophet, a righteous person, and a disciple of yours are in these times and make us give at least a cup of cold water to those little ones of yours in their names and upon their urging. We pray for everyone in Cambodia whom you consider to be among the prophets, righteous, and disciples and all those who welcome them as such and do heed their appeals. God, make us do this not to receive any reward in heaven but bless us with the utmost reward of being counted as a disciple of yours for at least a moment in this earthly sojourn of ours. Give us strength and grace as our reward for striving and yearning to follow you, O God, even if we continue to falter. In Jesus name, we pray, Amen!
