Because Lutherans have got spirit! Yes, we do! We've got spirit. How 'bout you? Pictured above are the Best Dressed folk at the June Senior Social Club lunch celebrating Independence Day a little early. More than 60 gathered for hamburgers, lawn games, patriotic music, and an all around fun summer day. This Third Thursday group will be celebrating their 2nd anniversary on July 20 in the Fellowship Hall with the Bigott's famous spaghetti sauce! Look for sign up sheets in the narthex. We are better together.

BEING THE CHURCH

FELLOWSHIP HALL SOFT OPENING

The Fellowship Hall had a soft opening of sorts over the weekend. The Forkless Potluck of fabulous fingerless foods was a friendly fête following a music focused service Sunday. Thanks to the Music Ministry for sharing your time and talents both in worship and in the kitchen. Everyone is still learning the ins and outs of our new space. Stay tuned for announcements of the grand opening coming soon!

The Fellowship Hall was inviting for lunch, but the 160 chairs only arrived a few days before! HUGE THANK YOU to the team below for creating a Fireman's Brigade chair pass from the Gonzales St. door to the Fellowship Hall. Habitat allowed Garry M. to use their forklift to make the job less stressful and more efficient. Chairs were unpacked and un-stickered, tables cleaned, floors mopped, and all readied for Sunday's gathering.

BE A PRAYER PARTNER

Prayer Partners are requested during the week our high school youth and sponsors will be in Puerto Rico, July 7-14. In the narthex and chapel are banners with our schedule and locations. If you would be willing to say a special prayer for our traveling bunch on a particular day, then please write your name in that slot. Each day can have multiple prayer partners; truly more the merrier! We’ll have copy of the list and reciprocate the prayers on our trip.

It's not just one week of VBS but a whole summer of VBE- Vacation Bible Experiences! Please reach out to Pastor Marcus or Vicar Jordana with questions. We hope you can and will join in on all the fun!

3rd Floor Music Suite

You are invited to a fun evening of singing a few old rounds (Like Row, Row, Row Your Boat), moving on to easy hymns in which the melodies and rhythms are simple and logical. Think of it as a type of game, but with the musical senses. We’ll use a pitch pipe and perhaps some bells, but NO PIANO! If you wish, bring some healthful munchies to share at this summer fellowship. Guests welcome. Contact is Tom Engler.

Family Life Center

Safety and Security are top priorities for our campus, especially as we consider how many visitors, church members, and ministry groups meet weekly. Having a plan in place that supports the constant and vital work of the Property Stewards and their care for the physical plant of our campus and gives us the avenues of communication, preparation, and action should we need it is also crucial. If you would be interested in helping formulate this safety and security plan please join the Task Force Chair Allan Bode in the Family Life Center on Sunday, July 23 at 9am.

CONFIRMATION PHOTOS WANTED

Some sweet soul before 2009 crafted lovely albums of Confirmation Classes at Emanuel's Lutheran Church dating back to 1902. (Raise your hand if this sweet soul is you!) Sherry picked up the task in 2018. There are some blank pages, however. If you have a photo from the following classes would you please bring them to Emanuel's to be digitally scanned for our archives?

We are missing: 1945-1948, 1951, 1988-89, 1992-1994, 1996, 1998, 2010-2017.

Quite honestly, there is a great deal of archival work that could use attention. Let us know if you would like to help address our truly fabulous historical collection of photos and ephemera.

Thank you to Beulah R. for bringing in this great photo of the Class of 1952!

CHRIST IN OUR HOME

July, August, September 2023

Christ in Our Home is a quarterly devotional resource that encourages readers to live out their faith daily. Each reflective reading is accompanied by a daily scripture reference and prayer for the day that follows the Revised Common Lectionary. Copies are now available in the narthex and church office.

Join us in the Sanctuary at 10am for rehearsal. We sing every 1st and 3rd Sundays until September. Summer is a great, informal time to try something new. Please try us! Questions? Reach out to the Director of Music Tom Engler at thomas@elcseguin.org.
