In a year unlike any other, Take Stock in Children continues to provide mentors, scholarships and hope to deserving students. With the challenges of COVID-19, the support of a mentor is more important than ever for our Take Stock students. Our dedicated mentors have stepped up to the challenge by going virtual. Students receive the same one-to-one mentor connection, but are doing so in a safe and secure virtual environment.
We thank our mentors for virtually connecting, helping students overcome obstacles and changing lives with the Take Stock program!

Balancing a calendar packed full with school, work, clubs and volunteering is no easy task, but Noemi is committed to achieving her college dreams. As a student in the IB program at Seminole High School, Noemi takes rigorous college prep courses that require focus and determination. When she isn't studying, Noemi enjoys giving back to the community and can be found volunteering at the Wayne Densch Performing Arts Center or with groups including Key Club, National Honor Society and Rho Kappa Social Studies Honor Society. Noemi credits Take Stock and mentor Emily Jones with getting her thinking about college and keeping her focused on becoming college ready. With her Take Stock scholarship, Noemi plans to study law or psychology and has applied to University of North Florida, Florida Atlantic University and Florida International University.
We know Noemi will make a great addition to any college campus and look forward to seeing what comes next for this outstanding Take Stock scholar!

Working for Florida Blue in Seminole County, Sadia was looking for opportunities to serve in the area and found a great fit with Take Stock in Children. With her passion to help students achieve higher education, Sadia was eager to provide guidance to deserving students. Now three years later, Sadia is supporting graduating senior Alexis at Lake Mary High School. Sadia encourages new mentors to be patient. "It can be awkward getting a student to engage with you at first, but as time goes by it is rewarding to see how your mentee develops and opens up to you over the years." Sadia has seen Alexis grow from a shy teen to a motivated student with stellar grades. Sadia is proud that Alexis is heading to college in pursuit of a Mechanical Engineering degree - a field that will benefit from more female representation.
Thanks to the support of Sadia and Take Stock in Children, her mentee is college ready and college bound with a bright future ahead!

Graduating from Lyman High School in 2017, Josue Reyes Diaz became a UCF Knight and is finishing up his studies as a Civil Engineering student. After graduation, Josue plans to join a consulting firm and eventually wants to help families in need by reconstructing homes in areas impacted by natural disasters. As he earns his college degree, Josue remains in contact with his Take Stock mentor Scott Arnett. He is still receiving advice and encouragement. "Scott never fails to remind me how far I've come and how far I still have to go before I attain my dreams."
Josue credits his mentor and the Take Stock program for having him well-prepared for 4 years of hard work at the university. We know Josue will "Charge On" and achieve his career and life goals!

Our Mission
Take Stock in Children, Inc. is a nonprofit organization, transforming Florida one student at a time. Our mission is to break the cycle of poverty for low-income, academically qualified students by providing opportunities for a post-secondary education. We offer college scholarships to students, provide caring volunteer mentors, and instill hope for a better life.
The Foundation for SCPS mission is to improve student achievement in Seminole County Public Schools by: raising and distributing funds and in-kind donations; fostering involvement in schools by business and the community; and providing recognition and rewards for outstanding contributions to, and performance within, the school system.
