10am Summer Sunday Service: I Grieve Differently
Kendrick Lamar put out an essential album, Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, with commentary on family dynamics, grief in the midst of COVID, addiction, and mental health. Inspired by this album, this service will ask us to dig deeper into the life issues we are currently facing.

Speaker: Rev. Lane-Mairead Campbell

We ask that anyone attending in-person
wear an N95 or KN95 mask.

Additional Announcements
Tuesday, August 9 | Drop-In Discussion: Group Projects: The Tuckman Model.
Have you ever led or joined a committee or work team?Understanding the dynamics of group interactions can help minimize or avoid some of the conflicts and upsets that can arise as groups of folks try to join together to work on projects. We'll use the Tuckman Model as a starting point, discussing its strengths and limitations. John Lukes presents. Drop-In Discussions are virtual! We meet on Tuesday nights from 6:30-7:30pm. Look on the First Universalist homepage for details and a link, or click the Zoom meeting link in this blurb title!

September 11 | Book Group: "The 1619 Project: A New Origin Story" by Nikole Hannah-Jones
There are several options for reading available which should give you a variety of choices. The hardcover or kindle is the longest and most complete version. However, there are also summaries and a New York Times article if you're pressed for time and/or want to explore other forms of discussion around the topic. One last note, the date is one week later than usual because Church Service will be held in Genesee Park on the second Sunday. Please join us August 21 at 11:50am in the Chalice Room for a lively discussion!

October 2 | In-Church Drop-In Discussions to Resume!
Drop-in discussions will resume in the Chalice Room starting at 9:15am, on Sunday, Oct. 2, and will continue to be held there on the first Sunday of each month until further notice. The initial Sunday morning discussion will be about where we want to go, what topics we want to discuss, and what ground rules we want to adopt.  The Zoom drop-in discussions on Tuesday nights will continue as they are now without interruption. Phil Ebersole is the person to talk to if you have thoughts about the future in-church discussions. Beth Ares is the person to talk to about the Tuesday evening Zoom discussions.

From the Caring Committee: Calling All Drivers!
Are you looking for a way to support our congregation? Consider signing up for our Driver Brigade: give a ride for those of us who no longer drive, or may need assistance with doctor visits or grocery shopping. Please contact drivers@uuroc.org if you can join our Driver Brigade. Thank you.
Joys & Sorrows
Please send your Joys and Sorrows to be read at our Sunday Worship service to JoysandSorrows@uuroc.org.

  • From Michael Scott: Heartfelt thanks to Ed Deller, Moritz Wagner, Tom Ruganis, and Charlie Courtsal, whose efforts were instrumental this past week in the permanent installation of video screens in the sanctuary. Come to church in person next Sunday and see the results!

Note: When you email a joy or sorrow to us, you are giving us permission to read it aloud at our Sunday service and possibly publish it in this weekly email. Thank you!
