7:30 p.m.
First United Methodist Church

Nick Fahrenkrug, baritone and Eleonora Apostolidi, piano are presenting the complete song cycle Die Schöne Müllerin by Franz Schubert. Composed in 1823, it is a set of twenty songs based on the poetry by Wilhelm Müller. The main character is a wanderer who falls in love with the beautiful daughter of the miller but keeps all his thoughts to himself. During the entire cycle there is no interaction between characters other than the conversations that the wanderer has with the brook. Eventually the wanderer realizes the miller’s daughter might be in love with a hunter. In his despair, he drowns himself in the brook.
