Dear ASI Friend,

It is with much gratitude that I would like to thank all of our supporters for such a warm welcome to the ASI family. We are proud to receive such fervor and support from our members, partners, and donors alike. That very same support has enabled ASI to thrive for 40 years. We could not be more grateful here at ASI.

Our year has started on such a high note. Our virtual community formats have allowed us to co-host three amazing Colloquium Series events thus far: A dissertation by Dr. Sarah May Lindsay, 'Service, Support, or Companion?: Species, Ability, and Care in Intimate Partner Violence Shelters'; a study by Dr. Lindsay Palmer, 'Kicking the Dog: The Endorsement of Hegemonic Masculinity Predicts the Endorsement of Aversive Training Methods'; and a study by Issy Clarke entitled, 'Animal Cultures: A Paradigm for Determining What Matters to Animals'. We would love to extend our deepest gratitude for all three presenters and those that both joined and watched their recordings. Due to the amazing attendance and feedback for our online programs, ASI looks forward to continuing this virtual gathering of minds throughout 2023. Find more information about our upcoming colloquium below.

On behalf of the board and staff of ASI, thank you to all for supporting the advancement of knowledge to improve animal lives.

Warm Regards,

Elijah Brice-Middleton

Upcoming Colloquium Series - May 25, 2023

Our upcoming colloquium will take place on May 25, 2023 at 9am PT / 12pm ET, and is entitled, 'Co-Existence with Community Cats'.

In this presentation, Dr. Irina Frasin suggests that observing and learning more about the way cats live when less influenced by humans allows us to challenge popular conceptions about them so that we may begin to co-exist with them as subjects, partners, and co-workers.
