What would it be like to spend your summer making a difference, including lifelong impacts, in the lives of youth?

The Mountain community offers us fleeting glimpses of what the world could be like, where all are valued, where people are empowered to participate, where the earth is held sacred and spirituality nurtured. ~~Geoff B.

Larry Wheeler Recognition

during Homecoming

Larry Wheeler was instrumental in creating much of The Mountain history, starting with standing on Meditation Rock in 1978, when the group decided, "This is the place."

Not only was Larry involved in creating much of our history, in recent years Larry has been i organizing the archives (photo to left) of The Mountain's rich decades-long history.

Friday evening, May 26, we will celebrate many Mountain accomplishments and honor Larry for his ongoing dedication to this special place.

Staff Housing - Ground Breaking

Homecoming Weekend

Have you been part of the conversations over the past 30+ years that we really need staff housing, reflecting our first principle of honoring the inherent worth and dignity of all.

It is actually happening - the first priority for the capital campaign to provide for staff and more fully do the work of our mission.

Sunday, May 28 at 1:00, we will have a celebratory blessing of the land and ground breaking. Be part of this significant event.

Message from the Board - Lee Reading

I am Lee Reading from Black Mountain, NC. I have been a member of the UU Congregation of the Swannanoa Valley since 2002 and have served on the Board of The Mountain since 2018. I also lived and worked at The Mountain from 2011-2013 in the role of Interim Director during an intense period of transition and rebuilding.

Over the past 12 years, I have gained an immense appreciation for MRLC's unique confluence of "Place, Purpose and People." I am committed to do all that I can to help fulfill our mission; to inspire people to build inclusive, meaningful, sustainable communities throughout our lives.

I want The Mountain to have the resources needed to serve our participants another 40 years and more as an exemplary youth camp, retreat and learning center. I am urging everyone in our Beloved Community to generously support our "Roots and Wings" capital campaign to make this big dream a reality.
