August 2020 Newsletter
On July 22, 2020, applications closed for the $7.5 million Creative Economy Recovery Grants. As expected, the need in Sacramento’s Arts, Culture and Creative Economy sector is great. The first tally showed 426 applications requesting $16.1 million.

For the past two weeks, the Office of Arts and Culture staff has been working nonstop with grantees, the City Attorney’s office and the City Auditor’s office to comb through the applications to ensure we are adhering to the very strict federal guidelines for the CARES Act Coronavirus Relief Funding. By doing out due diligence from the start, we hope to minimize the challenges when it is time for reporting back.

The applications are now ready to move through our grant panel process. The panel includes member from both the Arts, Culture and Creative Economy Commission and additional arts and culture specialists.
