SMACNA Detroit Announces the Passing of Anthony "Tony" Asher
|
|
It is with regret that we inform you of the passing of Anthony “Tony” Asher, former General Council of SMACNA Detroit. Tony died on Tuesday, August 24th, 2021, at the age of 85. He began with the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors National Association (SMACNA) Metropolitan Detroit Chapter in 1963 upon the death of his brother George Asher, a former labor relations consultant who later became Executive Secretary of Air Conditioning and Heating Contractors (ACHC). Prior to his start in the construction industry, Anthony was beginning a promising career in labor relations with Ford Motor Company. When he was asked to take over for his brother, he successfully developed SMACNA Detroit into the strong and viable organization that it has become today. According to the organization, the bond that Tony created between labor and management will continue to keep SMACNA Detroit’s partnerships in the construction industry strong for years to come. Donations in his honor can be sent to Detroit Mercy School of Law, 651 E. Jefferson Ave, Detroit, MI 48226, or online by clicking HERE.
