The new design has functionality that we hope is both user-friendly and easy to navigate. For the first time ever, our new site has a calendar that displays all upcoming events, as well as the ability to sign up for your favorite programs.

Please check it out, and drop us a line to let us know what you think!
Adult Programs
[Online] Restorative Yoga
Sundays in June
9am
Certified yoga instructor Jelisa Difo leads
a weekly online class in Restorative Yoga,
a practice that allows you to slow down, restore, and relax your body through passive stretching. During the long holds of restful poses, your muscles are allowed to release tension and welcome deep relaxation into the body and mind.

This program has been generously funded by the Friends of the Edgartown Free Public Library.

[Online] Author Talk: T. Elizabeth Bell
Counting Chickens: A Martha's Vineyard Novel
Tuesday, June 8
7pm
T. Elizabeth Bell, author of the popular novel Goats in the Time of Love, is back with a follow-up novel, also set on the Island. Counting Chickens is described by the author as a “beach read/romcom,” and features Islander Remy Litchfield and her former teenage crush, Jake, who is back on-Island for the summer. It’s lots of fun (and lots
of chickens), so join us for a conversation with Ms. Bell.

[Online] You CAN Garden for Life!
with Toni Gattone
Friday, June 11
7pm
Master gardener Toni Gattone will present her talk on adaptive gardening, the method that gives gardeners of all ages and abilities unique strategies to continue gardening, even when their bodies say “no.” Ms. Gattone offers solutions to help gardeners adjust and adapt to their physical challenges. Don't throw in the trowel!

This program is generously funded by the Friends of the Edgartown Library and the Edgartown Council on Aging.

[In-Person] Spring Birding Excursion with
Naturalist Robert Culbert
Saturday, June 12
9am
Join us for a walk in the woods with Robert Culbert of Nature Watch. The avian world is stirring (also peeping, chirping, and singing), and Robert will lead a few lucky birding enthusiasts on a walk from the library parking lot to one of his favorite birding hot spots.

[Online] Author Talk: Isabella Stewart
Tangled Vines, Island Crimes: Martha’s Vineyard Off-Season
Tuesday, June 15
7pm
First-time novelist Isabella Stewart will discuss her book, Tangled Vines, Island Crimes: Martha’s Vineyard Off-Season. Described by the author as the antithesis of a “beach read", the book takes place when the summer tourists have packed up and gone, and “the wild vines take hold of vacant summer properties and weaken their foundations, climb and strangle trees, and weave a cloth of deception that is stronger than twine.”

[Online] iPad Workshop with Kathy Lavieri
Thursday, June 17
10:30am
You have an iPad and you’re excited to use
it - but where to begin? Or perhaps you’d just like to refresh your skills and learn a few new tricks? Kathy Lavieri, a technology trainer with over twenty years of experience working with adult learners, is here to help.

[Online] Out of the Shadows: Hollywood’s History with the LGBTQ+ Community
Thursday, June 24
7pm
In observance of Pride Month, film historian Frank Mandosa takes a look at LGBTQ+ representation in mainstream film, both onscreen and off. This program will explore not only the ongoing evolution of this dynamic before, during, and after the cameras roll, but also the portrayals of the LGBTQ+ community in films of all genres, both past and present.

[Online] Bloomin' Summer
with Pianist Adele Dreyer
Sunday, June 27
7pm
The library’s resident pianist, Adele Dreyer, will play us right into a blooming Vineyard summer with her signature program of light jazz, popular songs, and classical selections.

[Online] Movie in Focus: Film Discussion Group
Viva (Ireland and Cuba, 2015)
Monday, June 28
11am
Perhaps the only Irish film ever shot in Cuba, director Paddy Breathnach’s drama Viva (the stage name of the lead character) lays on the melodrama when it’s least needed. However, the excellence of its performers (Hector Medina as Jesus, Luis Alberto Garcia as Mama, and Jorge Perugorria as Angel) will keep you absorbed in this emotionally rich story of a young hairdresser who longs to perform in drag.
