"Partners in Growth"
Mark 4:26-34

 A Message from the Pastor

The General Assembly of our denomination meets every other year, on odd-numbered years. Louisville, Kentucky was to be the location of the 2021 General Assembly, but the decision was made last year to cancel the event due to pandemic difficulties and the possibility of a large financial loss from convention center rental obligations.

I was greatly blessed by the last Assembly, in Des Moines in 2019, and had really been looking forward to Louisville, where I attended my very first General Assembly back in 1987.

Because we're so used to getting together as a denomination every other summer, I was happy to see that an alternative event was being offered. Though only a one-day event, on Saturday, August 7th, the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) will "gather" virtually for Worship, Bible Study, and Workshops. The event is called DISCIPLES VIRTUAL GATHERING. Yolanda Norton, Eric Smith and Terri Hord Owens are the scheduled speakers for the event. Registration is only $25 and all you need to participate is your phone, tablet, or computer and an internet connection.

The information page, with the link to registration, can be found through this page:

Peace in Christ,

Re-Opening NEWS
Proposed RRCC Reopening Dates
The Reopening Task Force has made an email motion to the Guiding Board to reopen for in-person Sunday Worship, including music, with certain guidelines in place, on July 4th.  In-person Sunday School and other activities are proposed to resume August 22, the first Sunday after Round Rock School begins.  Our two sister congregations may resume their  pre-pandemic schedules July 4th, using the sanctuary only.
Clarification of details and the GB voting process is happening via email, so the results should be available soon.  Many heartfelt thanks to the Task Force for detailed and diligent work through this truly historic time.  Work still remains, but the end may be in sight.

DWM Retreat

After a long year+ of not being together, it's exciting to know that the BBA/LRGVA Disciples Women will be meeting live and in person at our beautiful Disciple Oaks camp in Gonzales - OCTOBER 2-3, 2021! If you've attended the Retreat in the past, you know how special it is. If you haven't attended - this is the year to do it! The camp will be in great shape, and it will be a welcome time to come together as Disciples Women. Another very special reason for us to sign up this year: the retreat is being planned by our own TASHA YORK, Capital Cluster representative, along with Donna Williams, Town & Country Cluster representative. Let's support Tasha in a big way and join her in Gonzales. Mark your calendar NOW for October 2-3, 2021. More details will come later. In the meantime, if you think you might attend, please let Susan Kessler know (swkessler@austin.rr.com)

Early registration is $80 due by August 1; late registration is $90, due by September 1.  The Retreat will officially begin at 10am Saturday; if you'd like to arrive on Friday night, the cost is $100 and you can enjoy local Gonzales eateries for Friday dinner and Saturday breakfast.

Elder's Prayer Corner/Closing Message

In Whom I Trust

In Psalm 91, the writer makes a broad claim about one of the many blessings we receive just by belonging to God. He declares with boldness that if we chose to follow God and dwell with Him we will be the recipients of many blessings not the least of which is living under the shadow of our Heavenly Father. To have God's shadow abiding around us let's us know that we have received the very Presence of The Most High God as a dwelling place. God has chosen to abide with us. The word abide speaks of His living Presence sharing His life with us. Sometimes it is good that we remember all of the things God has promised us. God keeps His Word. In fact He keeps it so well that it has been signed and revealed to us as we need it. Because God created us He knows, us even better than we know ourselves. He knows what we need before we even ask and with Him nothing is impossible. He invites us to recognize that we can trust in Him. In a world where little can be trusted, you never go wrong by trusting in God and His.

Prayer:
Most loving and gracious Heavenly Father I come before You in the name of Your Precious Son my Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. Thank You for Your abiding love and grace daily poured into my life. It is such an honor to be part of Your family. I am grateful that everything that comes into my life has first passed through Your loving hands. Thank You for making me feel so safe and loved in Your Presence. Thank You that no matter how I may feel, I know You are with me. I am safe with You. I am at peace in Your Presence Sweet Jesus. Thank You for the love You bestow upon my life. In Jesus name, Amen
