President's Message

Greetings NSHRM Members and Friends,

I’d like to start by saying thank you to our sponsor Gallagher and to David F Katz from Adams and Reese, LLP for the presentation on Cyber Security at our May meeting. I hope all attendees found the content beneficial and plan to develop and implement plans to safeguard your organization against potential cyber security threats.

Normally this is the time of year where we are getting ready for the National SHRM conference however as many of you are aware, this year’s conference has been pushed to September. In the meantime we have an informative professional development meeting for June 10^th at the Pontchartrain Yacht club. This month’s breakfast meeting will focus on Population Health. We do hope to see many of you there for our in-person meeting.

Finally please scroll down the newsletter to review information regarding other events NSHRM is working on this year including our annual forum. Our planning committee has been meeting regularly and working hard to prepare for an amazing annual event at the Greystone in Mandeville. Be sure to mark your calendar now for September 30^th.

Legal Update

2021 Louisiana Legislative Session- June 6, 2021 Update

Pursuant to my role as NSHRM Legislative Director, I have reviewed the bills pending before the Louisiana Legislature during the 2021 Regular Session (which concludes no later than June 10, 2021). The following is an update of summaries of the official bill Digests for select bills that I believe are of interest to H.R. professionals, and their status as of June 1, 2021. Please review the bills and contact your legislature to discuss as you deem appropriate. I suggest that you particularly note House Bills 243, 245, 439, 705, 707 and Senate Bills 7, 49, 215, 244.
