Dear Parents,
You are receiving this letter because you have child who is ready to embark on a major stepping stone in their faith journey. We would like to invite you and your 5th grade student to begin the preparation process for their First Communion. Listed below are several important dates and details for you to note.
- The First Communion preparation classes will be held on three Wednesday evenings: March 3, March 10 and March 24. Classes will be held from 6:00-7:30 PM in the Commons at Christ Lutheran Church.
- Bring your Bible, a pencil and most importantly, an open mind and spirit to learn about this important Sacrament that brings us in touch with the awesome grace and forgiveness of God. Your child will receive a copy of Luther's Small Catechism as part of this class.
- Youth will receive their First Communion on Thursday evening, April 1, which is Maundy Thursday. Unfortunately due to COVID restrictions, we will not be having a Seder Meal this year.
- Pastor Kunze, Pastor Meyers, and Korey Danley will be co-leading these sessions.
- For a full experience in discussion, we strongly encourage you to join us in person. Masks and social distancing will be required. If you are uncomfortable meeting in person, please reach our to Korey Danley.
As parents, you took on an awesome responsibility when your child was baptized, specifically to train up your child in the Christian faith, place in their hands God's Word, bring them to worship and then to the Lord's Table. The involvement of you and your child in this spiritual life-shaping event ultimately impacts each of us in an on-going lifestyle of being a follower of Christ and a forgiven sinner.
