#NAWBO CALIFORNIA NEWS
President's Message
Dear NAWBO leaders, members, and friends,

Happy holidays from your NAWBO CA board! We hope you’re taking time to celebrate the season with family and friends.

I would like to thank PG&E for hosting Resources to Develop Your Business. It was fantastic to learn more about how our women business owners can take advantage of free resources and learning opportunities, and to learn more about what supplier diversity representatives are looking for from first point of contact to successful project completion. We look forward to continuing our partnerships with organizations supporting women business owners.

The end of the year is a time of gratitude and giving. I am grateful for our NAWBO sisterhood and all that we do to support one another. As the year winds down, I encourage you to consider where else you can give either of your time or funds. There are so many ways we can help better our world. What one thing can you do that would have real impact (and make you feel great at the same time)?

As busy business owners, we’re not always the best at giving something to ourselves. I encourage you to identify the top one or two things you can do for yourself before the end of this year. If that’s too soon, then give yourself the next 30 days. It can be big or small… maybe a relaxing bath or booking that getaway that keeps getting delayed (even if it’s far out). Maybe it’s giving yourself a little space to just breathe. Whatever it is, know your NAWBO community is cheering you on.

I wish you good health, peace, and prosperity for 2022. May we all bring our best selves to do our best work in this year ahead.

Best wishes,

Amber Wallace

Courageous conversations are the start of any healing process. Join NAWBO and the National Federation for Just Communities (NFJC) of WNY, Inc. for a monthly virtual series of DEIB Circle events starting in November designed to empower, encourage and support you in your diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEI&B) journey.

We’ll explore:
  • Ways we communicate with one another
  • How to become better listeners (a skill we need now more than ever!)
  • Social issues that impact our ability to empathize
  • How to understand our differences

Become an active participant in overcoming the many divides that separate us! Each session will bring our community closer together in a DEIB Circle format for respectful dialogue with the goal of learning from and with one another. Sessions begin with large group discussions followed by facilitated small group conversations.
