The Fentanyl Crisis
The number of drug-related deaths in the United States has risen to more than 100,000 per year. Many of them are the result of unintentional fentanyl ingestion. This national tragedy hit home last spring with the death of 2019 BHS grad Eli Weinstock in his college apartment.

Eli’s mother Beth Weinstock, a respected community member and local physician, has committed to preventing this tragedy from happening to other families by starting a fentanyl awareness nonprofit called BirdieLight. Beth will be sharing her potentially lifesaving message with our community the evening of Wednesday, February 23rd at 7:00 p.m. in the Schottenstein Theater in a presentation titled The Fentanyl Crisis: What You Need to Know to Keep Your Kids Safe.

The event is open to the public, so feel free to share this with interested friends and neighbors from Bexley and beyond. We will also be live streaming her talk; see details on the attached flyer.

We hope you will mark your calendar and plan to join us as we educate ourselves about how to keep our kids safe in the face of this national health crisis.
March 2 at Bexley High School
March 2 will not be a typical instructional day for high schoolers.

That morning all of our juniors will report to BHS as usual and will take the ACT test. There will not be regularly scheduled classes for students in grades 9, 10, or 12. However, students in grades 9, 10, and 12 are strongly encouraged to participate in one of the many interest-based learning opportunities available that day. During the morning testing time, we will invite our 9th and 10th-grade students to sign up for career shadowing experiences across the city hosted by members of the Bexley community. Some shadowing experiences will be offered in the afternoon as well.

During the afternoon, we are inviting students of all grades to participate in the first-ever BHS Senior Takeover. Members of our senior class are organizing learning experiences in a wide range of subjects that they will present to their BHS classmates. Click here to see the catalog of the different experiences we are offering.
Panorama
This Panorama survey will be administered to all students in grades 4 through 12 between February 22 through March 4. This tool helps us understand our students' perceptions of their social-emotional skills so we can better plan how we support them. For more details, please view this letter.
Health and Safety
