Season's Greetings!

Principal’s Corner…

Hello Eddy and Stony Brook families! I hope that you all enjoyed a nice Thanksgiving and the beautiful weather that went along with it. The schools have been busy with growing the minds of the students at both schools. We were fortunate to be able to provide students with a Turkey Trot at Eddy and the Kindergarten Alphabet Parade at Stony Brook! We even got to enjoy visits from the OWLS at Stony Brook. Thank you to everyone who participated in and supported these events! Everyone had a great time!

With the colder weather coming upon us, please remember to send your child in with layers. This time of year the weather can change quickly, so coats, hats and gloves are appreciated since we do go outside for masks breaks, snacks and recess daily.

Please make sure you check out the PTO Newsletter for upcoming events and dates! There is a lot of helpful information in it!

Also, if you haven’t already, please check out the schools on Twitter @NausetEddy and @NausetStony! We will share different things that happen in the school here!

Take care,

Allyson Joy, Assistant Principal

Staff Spotlight...Mrs. Trudel

Mrs. Trudel is one of our kindergarten teachers! She began her teaching career as a 1st grade teacher. She then moved into kindergarten and back to teaching first grade. She was fortunate to be able to stay home when her kids were young. Once her kids were in elementary school, she began substitute teaching and even was a long term substitute for a librarian. Finally, she has settled in as a kindergarten teacher here at Stony Brook.

This year she is most looking forward to seeing the growth of her students from the beginning of the year to the end of the year! She is very excited to share her love of nature and science with them and watch them get excited about it!

Here are some fun facts about Mrs. Trudel! Her favorite color is orange. She has a dog Izzy and a cat Clouseau. Mrs. Trudel has four children Joy, Shepard, Hayden and Sadie. She attended 4th grade at Brewster Elementary School the first year it opened and her dad was the Principal!

In the schools….

Kindergarten celebrated learning all the letters in the alphabet with an alphabet parade! The students created a vest with their favorite letter on it! They paraded around the school for all of the students and staff to see their accomplishments! Kindergarten is also learning about nocturnal animals and their needs. In math, they have been exploring 2D and 3D shapes. Beginning in December kindergarten students will begin their creative project based learning gingerbread community unit.

Grade 1 wrapped up their grade level animal study about owls with a live presentation. It was a wonderful way to end this unit! Thanks PTO! First grade students in math have been exploring addition and subtraction while working on becoming fluent with the math facts. Grade 1 will begin to learn “to count on & double facts” while trying to solve authentic adding and subtraction problems that incorporate these math skills.

Grade 2 are working on writing informational and opinion paragraphs. They have been exploring the Earth, the landforms, bodies of water and erosion that have helped them in their writing skills. As well as discovering some information about bats and owls that also helped them write some interesting paragraphs. Growing their math minds as well, grade 2 has been learning about place values (ones, tens, and hundreds).
