WELCOME TO THE WEEKLY WRAP
Hello new and returning OCSA students, parents, faculty, and staff, and welcome to the Weekly Wrap! This weekly email newsletter delivers the latest schoolwide news, announcements, and event updates right to your inbox every Friday. Keep an eye out for the latest from OCSA!
FIRST WEEK OF SCHOOL
We hope you are all excited for the first day of academic classes this coming Wednesday, August 17! Please be aware that the first day of school is a Green Day, which begins at 9 a.m. and concludes at 2:30 p.m. (click here to view the Green Day schedule). We can’t wait to see you all on campus. Stay tuned for an email on Tuesday evening with final reminders for the first day of school! 

Since Thursday, August 18 and Friday, August 19 are both Friday/no conservatory schedule days, school will begin at 9 a.m. for all students. On Thursday, August 18, dismissal will take place at 2:30 p.m. for returning students and at 3:30 p.m. for new students, due to Conservatory Buddy Activities. On Friday, August 19, all students will be dismissed at 2:25 p.m., but are then invited to the Welcome Week Festival, along with their families! See the message below for more details regarding Welcome Week activities. Please be mindful of these dismissal times when arranging carpools.

Please be aware that there are no conservatory classes during the first week of school. Conservatory instruction begins on Monday, August 22.
BELL SCHEDULE REMINDERS
To view the bell schedule for the 2022-2023 school year, please click here.

Below are some important reminders regarding the schedule:

  • On Mondays – Thursdays, school begins at 8:30 a.m.; conservatory classes conclude at 3:25 p.m. for grades 7-8 and at 4:45 p.m. for grades 9-12.
  • On Fridays and days when conservatory classes are not in session, the school day begins at 9 a.m. and concludes at 2:30 p.m.
MAKE-UP REGISTRATION DAY
Did you miss On-Campus Registration this week? If so, please come to campus on Tuesday, August 16 between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. to pick up schedules and textbooks in the Student Services Office. Otherwise, students can pick up their class schedules on the first day of school in the Student Services Office and their books in the bookroom on the second floor of the Humanities Tower. Please note that students who missed On-Campus Registration will be able to take make-up school pictures and receive their ID cards on Wednesday, October 5.
WELCOME WEEK ACTIVITIES
We are pleased to announce that our annual Welcome Week activities will take place during the first week of classes, from Wednesday, August 17 to Friday, August 19. We can’t wait for our students and their families to join us for this amazing multi-day event full of school spirit! Please click here to view the Welcome Week Schedule of Events.

All students and their families are invited to the big culminating OCSA bash on Friday, August 19! The Welcome Week Festival will take place from 2:30-4 p.m. at the Container Lot in front of the Humanities Tower and will feature carnival-style games, food trucks, music, and a dunk tank. Meanwhile, parents/guardians can mix and mingle with school administration and other OCSA families at a Parent Social. We hope to see you there!
TRANSPORTATION INFORMATION
Please note that Metrolink Shuttle, Newport Beach/Bonita Park, or Rossmoor/Rush Park shuttle passes will be available for pick-up Wednesday, August 17 Friday, August 19 between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the bookroom on the second floor of the Humanities Tower. Students will be able to ride the bus without a pass during the first week of school; however, everyone should have picked up their passes by the end of the week. Students will need their passes to board the bus starting Monday, August 22.

If you have not yet purchased your bus pass for any of the above routes and are still interested in doing so, please click here to sign up. The deadline is TODAY, Friday, August 12. As shared in a previous communication, the final cost and ability to operate the routes will depend on the total number of committed riders. 

Parent Directory
The 2022-2023 Parent Directory is now available to parents/guardians through the Aeries Parent Portal to allow them to connect with other families willing to be contacted/participate in carpools. Once parents log onto the portal, the Parent Directory Google Document is accessible under the Resources tab. Contact information is included for any parents who elected to share their primary phone number, email address, city, and zip code.

Transportation Facebook
Additionally, parents/guardians can connect to find potential carpools through the Transportation Facebook Group. Please answer the screening questions to become a member of this private group and find connections near you.

FOOD SERVICES AT OCSA
Please be aware that food services will be available daily for students in the following areas of the OCSA campus:

  • Humanities Tower, second floor cafeteria (breakfast, lunch, and academic nutrition breaks)
  • Humanities Tower, first floor breezeway (breakfast and lunch)
  • Media Arts Center, 10th Street kiosk (lunch)

Students should pre-load their OCSA Student ID/OCard at MySchoolBucks to expedite food purchases.
SCHOOL CALENDAR ADJUSTMENTS
Due to availability at Segerstrom Center for the Arts, our annual Season Finale will now take place on Wednesday, May 31, 2023. In order to accommodate this new date within the school calendar, the following adjustments have been made for the last two weeks of school. Please see below:

  • Monday, May 29 - Memorial Day (School Closed)
  • Tuesday, May 30 - Gold Day
  • Wednesday, May 31 - Non-Student/Teacher Day (No School)
  • Thursday, June 1 - Blue Day
  • Friday, June 2 - Gold Day
  • Monday, June 5 - Blue Day
  • Tuesday, June 6 - Gold Day
  • Wednesday, June 7 - Last Day of School (Green Day)
  • Thursday, June 8 - Graduation – Class of 2023

If you previously printed the Important Dates to Remember document, we recommend that you print this new revised version since the above dates have been changed.

PERFORMANCE PROGRAM ADVERTISING
If you plan to sell or purchase advertising space in our programs, please remember that the due date for ad forms, artwork, and payment is Wednesday, August 31. An ad in OCSA’s performance program is a great opportunity to give a shout out to your graduating senior, current student, or conservatory! HEALTH & SAFETY REMINDERS
The health and safety of our students, staff, and community remain at the forefront of our efforts. OCSA will continue to follow all guidance set by the California Department of Public Health. At this time, mask wearing on the OCSA campus is optional. Students who have tested positive for COVID-19 and/or are exhibiting symptoms should remain at home and fill out the COVID-19 Reporting Form.
